    and i leave a comment

    thanks for the riddle again

    ReplyDelete
  2. I still can't figure out 42. I don't understand the concept of the hands and the angles.

    ReplyDelete
  3. and finished great riddle s-t and thanks for all the help

    ReplyDelete
  4. Help on 45? I used a table to draw letters, but the 2nd letter doesn't make sense. Also, what to do with the dates?

    ReplyDelete
  5. MrsFriday,
On the previous page I posted the big hand and the little hand (two different comments), so all you have to do with that is subtract and then convert to letters.

    ReplyDelete
  6. @mrsfriday, imagine the hour-hand pointing at 9 (but not exactly, since its been 47 min and 39 seconds since it was at 9 exactly.
What is the amount of degrees for that hand?
There is 360 degrees in one lap = 12 hours.
    Every hour is 360/12 = 30 degrees.
If it was at 9 exactly, it would be 30x9=270 degrees.
But, its a bit more (considering minutes and seconds).

Do the same calculation for the minute hand. Each minute is 360/60=6 degrees.
If it was at 47 min exactly, it would be 47x6=282 degrees, but its a bit more since it moved for another 39 seconds.

When you have both exact degrees, subtract them from each other to get the difference = the angle between the minute and hour hand.

    Well, the EASY WAY:
read the comment from small-tool on
    12/16/11 at 10:18AM and
    12/16/11 at 10:37AM
You will get the degrees for both hands.
    Subtract them.
Look at your answer (4 digits)
    Translate to letters.

    ReplyDelete
  7. @donas, second letter should be an E. Don't forget to look at the - between the numbers. Sometimes you should lift the pen and start a new line.

The years will make sense once you have the other letters.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Thanks incognito, got it and it really is true!

    ReplyDelete
  9. I feel so dumb :(
    Stuck on 43.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Never ever feel dumb when riddling @mrsfriday! We all have good and bad moments there lol.
For 43, you see lots of squares. Its about math. Convert letters to numbers, do the math, and convert again.

    ReplyDelete
  11. MrsFriday,
    Just do the math.
The letters are in squares so square them
    (d=4, so 4x4= what letter?)

    ReplyDelete
  12. Level 46
Converted the numbers and I see the flag, does it refer to chess, and how do I make the moves into letters?

    ReplyDelete
  13. @donas, you probably need to google.
Yes, you're right about chess, and the country is important too. Google the game and country together to get 6 moves =>helps you to pick letters.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Thanks, I've been trying that, but not luck. First move is e4?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yes @donas, and e4=14=letter N
    Go on like that.

    ReplyDelete
  16. And when you have 6 letters you need to anagram.

    ReplyDelete
  17. On 39--do I need alpha order within the sets of 8 or do I put them all a-z?

    Thanks for any help. :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. In 45, what do the last 3 lines tell me? Should I google those with the words I have so far?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Kathi how can you delete posts on Nord !!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. @mrs friday, you can do it that way. Or google the words you have and look at the wiki-page for the years. ALmost at the bottom of the page.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I can read the top of 47, and saw the floor, but don't have a clue what to do next

    ReplyDelete
  22. @donas, count letters.
Each row should give you two digits.
Then, go back to your memory (or notes) and use those numbers together with the floor.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Donas,
You need answers from previous levels.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I have never played chess, so I don't understand what wiki is telling me for 46. Can someone explain please?

    ReplyDelete
  25. @mrs friday, the columns on the board are named:
    abcdefgh
    the rows are named:
    8
    7
    6
    5
    4
    3
    2
    1
Now, use the chess board as a coordinate system.
If it tells you to go to e4,
go to e (5th column), and to 4 (4th row), and use what's inside that square.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Level 49

I got the number from the pictures and tried to use the site incognito posted earlier, but I have never used that cipher and don't understand it

    ReplyDelete
  27. @donas, you need to choose "decrypt" (not encrypt).
    Use 0 as "shift".
Put the keyword after "the key" (the number you have).
Put the letters from lvl 49 in the box below "alphabet used".
Get the result in the box in lower part of the page.

It will still be gibberish, starting with NQNFZO...
You have to use this in the next cipher now.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Thanks incognito, solved the ciphers and know the singer, but names not working

    ReplyDelete
  29. Of course, thanks s-t, the one I didn't try!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Level 50

I used incognito's beers and took a letter to match the number for each picture, but no luck. Am I on the right track?

    ReplyDelete
  31. @donas, that should work, except... I'm very very sorry but I spelled the first beer wrong in my comment.
Its not HoeRgaarden, but Hoegaarden, which makes letter number 8= D
Pick one letter from each beer. For example, the last beer is Palm, the number is 4, the 4th letter is: M etc

    ReplyDelete
  32. It should work Donas, but incognito spelled one of them wrong.

    It's hoegaarden

    ReplyDelete
  33. Back for a while, now on lvl 38...

  140. The guy in the middle is Peter Greenaway. So the trick is to take green away from the flags (so it becomes white) and then you have real flags (like the first is Japan) and then simply take the letters from those words as the numbers tell you to do. So 3 and 4 from Japan is P and A etc. and then you get as answer; panda.
    Good luck.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Thank you so much Small Tool, I had great fun playing this riddle. There were some really good ideas (I mean real impressive stuff, but you already know that, I'm sure) and very difficult tricky sneaky levels, so I kept looking at comments! Luckily I played a long time after everyone finished so I had all the hints, and nobody's gonna come and read this and see what a hard time it gave me!
So Great game, thanks, I really enjoyed it, and hurry up with the next one!

    ReplyDelete
  142. It took me some time to get around to playing this but I'm really glad I did. Sure was a lot of fun. Thank you, Small Tool for your evil brain and generous help.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Finished. Thanks Jon and s-t for this nice riddle. I enjoyed it almost as much as the 'Blonde Belg' in front of me :)

    ReplyDelete
  144. One of the extra fun parts is all those websites you run into, trying to find ... eh .... eggs .... lol.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Yeah, and there's the problem if you play an old Small-Riddle thingy ... the links, taking you outside the page, are off.
    So, level 11.
Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blixen, Rudolph ...
    pop .... it's B l i t z e n ..... on to level 12 now.

    ReplyDelete
  146. I'm on level 21 now. So far I can work with these 3 year old hints, but my, very tricky every now and then.

    ReplyDelete
  147. I passed the 'stuck' level, but unfortunately I don't know how to work any further on the caesar-cypher.
The first one is straight forward, but what do I do with the second picture and the third? I tried the keyword 'six' on the outcomes, but so far no good.

    ReplyDelete

  149. There were many helpful players on all the different levels, the most helpful players for me were the ones asking the questions about levels others found so easy.
That was also tricky in playing this old one (it's nov. 2014 now). No help around anymore.
I struggled with finding the start on a level. What do you have to do.
But I loved it. My compliments small-tool.
I found a lot of new riddle-tool sites, but couldn't do 39 and 41. (binary and clocks). Still not, looking back. Needed the exact answers there.
But it was great, really. Bye ! Arrie.

  150. Since the given links to answers are broken here a WT.
I went up and down through the comments and worked my way through that. and Google still gives the answers you need. But ... you never know how that will change. And it's a pity if the game can't be solved. (i.o.w. I needed an excuse to do this).

    http://luthorien.altervista.org/Tools/ use ROT
    http://luthorien.altervista.org/Tools/ use Caesar’s Box

    49. Two pages of ideas and calculation that led to nowhere.
Right click each of the three pictures for a letter, which gives a number. This number is the key.
Caesar is the name of a tool to change letters into other letters.
    We need three different cipher-sites.

On the first one, rumkin - thanks to Incognito again.
You need to choose "decrypt" (not encrypt).
    Use 0 as "shift".
Put the keyword after "the key" (the number you have).
Put all the letters from lvl 49 in the box below "alphabet used".
Get the result in the box in lower part of the page.

It will still be gibberish, starting with NQNFZO...
Copy that and use it on the next cipher link.

On the second one, luthorien, use ROT.
Paste the letters and copy the result given in ROT + 6.

On the third one, luthorien, use Box (as you can see on the third picture).
Paste the letters from ROT + 6 in the text display,
    Number of characters, choose 6.
Read the line. What 7-letter American singer is called that way?

    Again, only surname.

    50. Back to Incognito, end of older page. For the names of all those Belgian beers.
Only one of them is wrong, the first one is Hoegaarden.
Take the letter as shown by the number below the picture.
    8 letters.

End-page, but no, s-t couldn’t get enough of it,
so, again, capitals on strange places in the text.
Where is the 6-letter bonus level?
Google: it’s not over (till 10-letter-who sings?)

Click the name Small Tool and leave a comment.
Always a nice thing to do.
