A Love Story

A Love Story is another riddle based puzzle game created by the CSY team (Clio, small-tool and Yoli) for EG24. A 50 chapter love story which starts quite easily, but will blow your mind by the end :P No fancy riddle stuff; no info in hidden text, source, the exif and/or picture properties. No picture or audio manipulation, etc. Everything you need is there in plain sight on the level. All you need is your brain, perhaps some googling and a lot of help from other players. But please DO NOT POST ANSWERS. Do post lots of subtle, helpful hints though, because we want your fellow players to reach the end as well. Leave no-one behind, so everyone can see how this wicked love story unfolds :) Good luck and have a lot of fun! [Created and subbed by Clio, small-tool and Yoli]

  1. talron, read the line on top of the grid carefully and do the a......t both ways in columns and in rows, take the ones on the hearts

  2. Cee Bee, for 50, remember what you drew on level 10? Find a connection and do the same thing, then think about level 45 to find letters

    ReplyDelete
  3. hadnt refreshed cee bee thats why didnt answer but you re lucky cause donas is a better hinter!!
i have to go , you re almost there ,Congrats !!

  5. Oh oops! forgot to refresh .... really losing it here, if I hadn't lost it already :) Thanks Donas.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Thanks new - I got it...

    ReplyDelete
  7. I'm off to meet a friend for a couple of hours. I hope I come back and see (or hear) some screams of joy from Cee Bee. Personally, still pondering 39. Numbers seem to lead one way, colors seem to lead another but I can't seem to mix the two. And small-tool, you must have the patience of a saint to stay on here and keep prodding us all in the right direction. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Me2, for 39, think "primary" and math

    ReplyDelete
  9. Lvl 50: Oh Frustration City!!! Whoever came up with the name "Evil Genius" (LinG I think) got it spot on - LOL!!

I was hoping my last cry for help would be my last, but no such luck.......

I think I see the connection - I've tried connecting them both ways, (and the various options available on a few) and I'm coming up with letters that don't anagram to anything, let alone spell anything in the right position. Again I'm here wondering what I can ask for in the way of help other than verifying what I think.

I know there are still people playing so don't want to give too much away. If I inadvertently do that ask me to delete.

Am I looking for 11 letters?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Cee Bee, you need 22 letters and no anagram

    ReplyDelete
  11. Cee Bee, also notice that some of the numbers repeat, be sure to use the right one

    ReplyDelete
  12. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU DONAS!!!!

Finally my nightmare is over!! I can sleep again. LOL!!!

Thank-you to everyone who has helped me along a very rocky path. I almost gave up when I saw the overgrown path ahead of me at level 43, but you handed me a machete and spurred me on. I hope all my constant questions and your wonderful answers will give the players coming behind me a helping hand.

    To all those still playing:
If I can do this, so can you!!! I am not a riddler (as if you didn't know :)), but the amazing patient people on the help line will be there when you need them.

    Small-Tool, Yoli & Clio:
A brilliant piece of work!!! Although I had to swallow my pride a lot and endure many embarrassing moments, I had lots of fun and learned a few things along the way. A special THANKS to Small-Tool for hand-holding in the wee small hours.

    ReplyDelete
  13. YAY Cee Bee, well done :)

    ReplyDelete
  14. Congratulations Cee Bee! Enjoy the final pages!! They are worth all the hard work you put in to it :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. Sigh. I keep getting stuck now. On 39. I have read the clues about "primary" and math to no avail. I've added up primary colours and sides in every combination I can think of no luck so far. I'm not getting any numbers or shapes out of it.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Gypsy, for 39, remember secondary colors are made from primary colors, you should only have 3 colors to do the math with, do them each separately

    ReplyDelete
  17. I wrote the answer down about 4 times, just didn't clue in.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Congratulations Cee Bee! I'm wiping away a tear of joy to think that someone who has asked as many questions as I have has completed this fiendish puzzle. If you come back in a week or two you can check my progress, I'll probably be on level 41 by then :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. But on 39 how can green be two different numbers?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Thank you Me2, As you can imagine, I'm ecstatic :)

Green is made up of 2 different colours.......... think primary.

    ReplyDelete
  21. still not getting 39..after so many clues...so p=r+b so is that 7 or (18+2 = 20)..or sthng completely different and then do i mutiply by this number of sides or am i jst complicating it too much...I am so lost :(

    ReplyDelete
  22. Congratulations CeeBee!!!! YAYYYYY!! I cant wait for Me2, Sonal, Gypsy, Talron and the others to finish. It means...more cheats for me. BTW..i do expect you all to leave the 4 x 2 for later players, like me. (After working with small, i promise you..i AM prepared to use it). lol

    ReplyDelete
  23. Thanks Clio - I finally got a good night's sleep - LOL!! I hope the footprints I left get you to the finish line a lot quicker than I got there. I kept looking for some ahead of me, but the wind had blown them away. I'm afraid my 2x4 is rather tattered but I can get you a new one - bigger & better LOL!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Sonal, don't leave me behind - I'm thinking about it exactly like you were and not seeing the answer. Perhaps we should swap the 2x4 out for a 4x6.

    ReplyDelete
  25. HAHAHAHA...Hope you enjoyed the Hall of Tool Fame, CeeBee. Yoli and I had a load of fun with that. I've heard rumours that small tried to tell his True making of the riddle, but i daresay ...it woulda been a fantasy of his making, after belting his own head with a 4 x 2..for cruelty inflicted on his friends...LOLOL

    ReplyDelete
  26. Me2 don't try to make the actual colours into numbers! :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Congrats cee bee !!!

Me2 did you get it ?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Clio,
I thoroughly enjoyed the Hall of Tool Fame!!! I am full of admiration for the ingenuity that went into the many aspects of this riddle. The riddles themselves are awesome of course, but so is the storyline and all the little bells & whistles surrounding it - including titles & section names. I can only imagine the fun you guys had developing it all - I envy you!!

    Me2,
I shall be watching you all the way - I want to be there when you finish too!!!
if you're still struggling with 39 reread
    Donas 2/26/13, 7:01 PM
You have 3 sums to do.

    Thanks new :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Darn it all, I have to go to work but I'll try some more this afternoon. Thanks for all the hints, maybe the penny will drop while I'm doing other things. Are the three sums to figure out the secondary colors?

    ReplyDelete
  30. No, once you've done the math correctly translate it back to what you see.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Lvl 30 - The hints are wonderfully clear. I have two relating words, 6 letters word start with G and 4 letters words start with K. I am Googling together them together. I am told that the answer is in the first hit. I cannot see it...HELP :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. talron, 4 letters words starts with W !
and google together all 10 words

    ReplyDelete
  33. New! Do you mean "all 10 letters"? I don't have 10 words! Nevertheless, I tried the anagram results and got gobbledigook...

    ReplyDelete
  34. you must have found 10 words from the meanings in the dictionary!! google them all together

    ReplyDelete
  35. Lvl 43 - Is there a trick to this level that I am missing? If I play it like a regular Bejeweled game I can't seem to come up with any letters. I worked down until there are no more moves many, many times and I see nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  36. LinG,
If you did the correct moves then a part of the text is a hint: Now the colours worked beautifully together.
Working together is a hint for complementary colours. And beautifully a hint for taking that in an Art way.
So pairs of two colours will make the sahpe of 3 letters.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Small Tool, do you have to do all the possible moves before you get the letters?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yep LinG.
    You do 3 moves.
In the first move some colours are deleted because there are 3 of them connected (row or column, that's the Bejeweled rule). And some of them in column 1 and 2 will drop down from the top part because of that.
In the second move, more colours are deletede because that's the tricky part.
And move 3 is easy again.
And then you have 6 colours (besides white) that make the shapes of 3 letters.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Got it! Thanks Small Tool.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Ok it looks like I'm going to need someone to very gently take me by the hand, slowly walk me to the signpost indicating the directions to solving 39, offer me a soothing cup of tea and a cold compress, and then whack me with that 2x4. Any volunteers?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Me2, for 39, I'll try to help. First break down the shapes into primary colors. You should have 3 colors. Number each color according to the number of sides for each shape they came from. Then do the math. For a final step, convert your answer back into a color and shape. Hope that helps.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Donas - I don't understand "Number each color according to the number of sides for each shape they came from." If B=8 and Y=9, how can G=4 and/or 6 since G is made up of B+Y? Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Me2, if you have a blue square, number it 4 blue. A purple square would have 4 blue and 4 red

    ReplyDelete
  44. Donas, I bow down at your feet. Thank you! My brain is obviously not wired the same as the puzzle creators or you amazing solvers.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Lvl 45. I have found something or rather a pair of something outside the window but I don't know what to do with it. A nudge please/

    ReplyDelete
  46. LinG,
She had to look out the window more than twice. Check the previous window.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Finished! Thanks everyone for posting the great hints. Special thanks to Miller and small-tool for giving me extra clues.

    ReplyDelete
  48. How to use the italic sentences in level 47?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Mehroon,
For 47 you need x- and y-axis values for the dots and you need coordinates.
You can find both of them in Italic.

    ReplyDelete
  50. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  51. s-t
How to find x and y? Please give an example. Another example needed on finding coords.

Should I take S of SHE as 1 and 9. Then what is H? It cant be 0 and 8. Please help

    ReplyDelete
  52. Mehroon,
Read the first Italic sentence like this:
    She moves: in mysterious ways.
Count how many letters behind the colon and you know what to do.
Coordinates would be pairs, well it's all 2 letter words in the other Italic sentence.

  55. I can't play today but I'll be back tomorrow. On 41 with a bunch of symbols converted to letters and a "rotten" clue. Congrats to all who have finished!

    ReplyDelete
  56. HE Wishes!...but also prays that NEVER happens.LOLOL

    Good solving @1975.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Me2. Dont panic, just remember ...with every step..the stench became more ROTten.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Yeah, I finally finished! Thanks to eveybody who answered my dumb questions especially Cee Bee who asked all the right questions so I didn't have to.Small Tool, Yoli and Clio you make a great team. Your humour and willingness to help made playing this riddle a lot of fun.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Congratulations LinG!!! I'm soooooo glad my nagging helped LOL LOL!!!

    ReplyDelete
  60. I want to add that the evilness of your genius is tempered by your wonderful sense of humour. I am in awe of the brilliant minds that construct riddles and wonder at my sanity for even attempting to solve one .............so when's the next one?

    ReplyDelete
  61. After a day of not playing, I whizzed through a couple levels and then got to 41. I can't even convert the symbols to letters. Help?

    ReplyDelete
  62. Still stuck on 41. Unable even to turn the symbols into letters.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Gypsy,
Pigsty is a hint tos use this cipher:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pigpen_cipher
(use the first method in that Wiki page).

But that's only the first step.
After that do something with every letter (but a different amount for every letter).

You know when you're on the right track when you are, because the answer is no anagram.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Couple of questions on 41. I have all the symbols translated into letters, now for the rotten clue - does the position of the symbol on the stair matter (right edge, left edge, center?). I can't seem to get the first symbol (top or bottom step) to turn into a C in a way that creates an ever increasing or decreasing pattern with the other symbols. I thought I knew what ROT meant but probably I'm "turned" around.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Me2,
Position doesn't matter, but what stair it's on does.
The first symbol (top stair) should give you a D after the first conversion. Then you apply ROTten and it becomes a C

    ReplyDelete
  66. Me2
Make sure you do the first conversion correctly!

Use what you see - don't walk down the stairs first.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Ceebee can you come to cbox for a moment? Please?

    ReplyDelete
  68. Level 43 - I have the 3 letters and tried writing them as a number and it didn't work???

    ReplyDelete
  69. Level 43 is not about numbers.
Pairs of colours (if done correctly) should make the shapes of 3 letters, so the answer is a 3 letter word and it starts with O.

    ReplyDelete
  70. don't know if there's still someone who can help me..but i'm stuck at lvl 42...
    first word: maybe P***R?
second word: i changed the gears..but nothing's coming up, just garbage...

    ReplyDelete
  71. Maremoto,
You need all 10 letters - it's one word

    ReplyDelete
  72. hi ceebee :)

...could you help me, please, for the 2nd round?

    i mean, second turn:

    1st gear ccw 4
    then (after changing gears)
    2nd gear cw 4
    3nd gear cw 6
    4nd gear ccw 6
    5nd gear ccw 6

    is it correct?

    ReplyDelete
  73. I can't find all my notes, but from memory I think that's correct.

    ReplyDelete
  74. ok thank you cee bee, i'll try again ...:)

    ReplyDelete
  75. I'm back after being away for several days. Anyone still around? I'm still on 41, got 11 letters beginning D and ending H. I know the first letter becomes C per previous posts but I can't figure out how to "rotten" them into anything that makes sense. Sure wish I could look at small-tool's and Cee Bee's deleted posts from 02/22.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Finally finished this with much behind-the-scenes help from the kind and patient (not to mention super-smart!) souls on here :D It's late here now and I'm exhausted, but I intend to go back to the beginning tomorrow and post hints for each level in here.

@maremoto - I think your last one needs to be the other way 'round (CW instead of CCW), but otherwise that looks good :)

    ReplyDelete
  77. @Me2: Focusing on pushing things "more back" as you go down the stairs is the key to cracking the code...

    ReplyDelete
  78. BlackFiresong, thanks I finally got it - I had some of the symbols wrong, guess I need better reading glasses :) Now on to 42.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Must be doing something wrong in 43. When I make first move the three B in column 1 disappear. Then the three O in columns 1 and 2 disappear. Is that it for first move? Because if it is, when I make second move, nothing seems to happen. Not a Bejeweled player so not sure what I'm missing.

    ReplyDelete
  80. First move only the 3 B should disappear, not the the 3 O. It's only 3 connected in row or column that go. Not 3 in a corner shape or something like that.
For the 2nd move: Don't forget the 1st row is the top row (not the bottom row), so actually 2x 3 should disappear.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Ahhh, I'll try again, I was using the 1st row as the bottom row. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  82. Me2, Glad to see you back and forging ahead :)

Thee first move removes only the 3 blue in col 1.
The top green gem moves down and 3 stones from above fill the gap.
Do that first and then do the 2nd move.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Hi Cee Bee, got it! Only seven levels to go - give me another month or two :)

    ReplyDelete
  84. :) You're doing great!!

    ReplyDelete
  85. Woo hoo, got 44 already! Okay, due to some great hints but still, Now I have to leave but I'll be back later today, so excited!

    ReplyDelete
  86. I have been out of action as my laptop was in the workshop now back but well behind and completley stuck on level 36 read the earlier hints but not getting anywhere please if anyone out there can you help thanks

    ReplyDelete
  87. For 36, change notes into other names.
For example D is re (from the do, re, mi etc.)

    ReplyDelete
  88. Hi ladysue, it's so nice to know there's someone else back here besides me. On 45 I've found four differences (two top center and two right toward bottom) but I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to find five. Then am I having a "seizure?"

    ReplyDelete
  89. Me2 , one more on top left

    ReplyDelete
  90. amd then you have to "read" the frame

    ReplyDelete
  91. Yippee, I'm on 50!! I know the relationship between the numbers and I know that I have some numbers that work in two different directions (does that make sense?). Saw hint about levels 10 and 45 so I drew lines but now I'm stuck. Haven't been stuck long, just impatient to finally finish :)

    ReplyDelete
  92. :) I can feel your excitement Me2 - 'twasn't long ago I was in the same position.......

Take your time, draw your lines and see where they land. Some of the questionable pairs will take you to weird letters, so pick the other one and see what phrase emerges.

    I waiting for the fireworks!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  93. Cee Bee, you're here! I think my problem is that I don't see how the lines lead me to letters (even if I think outside the box like on 45).

    ReplyDelete
  94. Of course I'm here - told ya I would be :)

Draw the lines to the outside frame and interpret as you did in lvl 45. 2 letters for each line.

    Does that help?

    ReplyDelete
  95. I did it, I did it, I did it!!!! Okay with a ton of help but I did it! Cartwheels and somersaults in addition to the fireworks. Thank you all so much (it's like the Academy Awards - there are so many to thank that I don't want to leave anyone out)!!

    ReplyDelete
  96. Yayyyy!! Yipppee!! Congrats Me2!! :) :) :)

    \☺/\☻/\☺/
Special thanks to all rescuing angels in several places for cyber-holding my hands, feets (& other body parts ;-P) in times of crisis & desperation - never would have been able to finish without your help...!

    ReplyDelete
  102. On 45, I have found 4 differences outside the box. I read a comment that there was another difference top left but I can't see it and I have no idea how to "read" the frame. Any help?

    ReplyDelete
  103. gypsy top left, the very top left.. and think about this: on the frame there are 26 symbols..does it help?

    ReplyDelete
  104. Congratulations Me2 and everyone else who have finished. I managed 3 levels without help but now stuck again. A big hint on level 40 would be appreciated, Iam determined to finish this no matter what thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Here's quite a big hint. It shows how the first letter is made. But before you look, maybe check some older posts first about this level.

    Anyway, here it is:

The method done with the first letter

    ReplyDelete
  106. Thanks small-tool it now makes so much sense I can be a bit thick sometimes

    ReplyDelete
  107. Keep going ladysue! There are a couple of (relatively) easier levels coming up. And congrats, premiere!

    ReplyDelete
  108. I'm always so close that I kick myself when I get a hint but stuck on 49 now. Using numbers to try and pick out letters and then applying math for nine letters? Or am I way off base?

    ReplyDelete
  109. It seems you're on the right track for level 49.
There are 18 numbers and 18 words so you know where to pick your letters.
Then indeed do the math and you get your 9 letter word answer. No anagram needed.

    ReplyDelete
  110. OMG level 42 was a nightmare however finally on to level 43 I am probably the only person left but I am determind to finish the hints for 42 helped alot thanks everyone

    ReplyDelete
  111. OMG level 42 was a nightmare however finally on to level 43 I am probably the only person left but I am determind to finish the hints for 42 helped alot thanks everyone

    ReplyDelete
  112. Keep going Ladysue, you're doing great and I'll be rooting for you (in the US way, not the Aussie way :P) and will check daily for cries for help.
Go, go, go and don't be to sure you're the only one left. There are still people playing and your ahead of them :)

    ReplyDelete
  113. I am still plugging away however level 44 has got me stumped. Read the previous hints however do not know how to choose the nine pairs of words what should I be looking at. Once I have the pairs I may be able to work the rest of the puzzle out. Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  114. Ihave worked out the code to get the 18 words but how to pair them. Will leave it for another day as it is bedtime for me, work calls in the morning.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Level 44 is all about (simple) maths.
The 18 words in the picture are already 9 pairs. Between every pair is a / (and that is a maths operator).
And in the text: 'Remind her', is in Italic. That's a kind of a visual homophone: The words 'Remind her' together looks very much like one 'maths' word.

    ReplyDelete
  116. for everyone still playing :
    keep going !!
theres always someone whos checking and will try to help!! (as small-tool said and done)

ladysue , you re almost there !!

    ReplyDelete
  117. Thanks for the support new and thanks very much small-tool for your help

    ReplyDelete
  118. Please can somebody help I understand what to do on level 44 but the letters I get do not make a word. The first pair of words are they 33/22 and the last pair 32/7 if not I am completely off track

    ReplyDelete
  119. Ladysue,
The way you did it, I think your first pair should be 22/33 and not 33/22.
But not important at all, because it's 'a bit' the wrong track.
Don't overthink, don't make up your own hints: There's nothing at all telling you to add the letters/numbers. So the first word is not 22 but 12514.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Thanks small-tool I have spent 2 hours working out the wrong numbers

    ReplyDelete
  121. Hurrah on to next level what a very apt word small-tool

    ReplyDelete
  122. Lol, indeed :P
But the peak is now behind you. From now on (although you will still face some sneaky little tricks) it's getting easier and easier. So, go, go, go girl, you're almost there :)

    ReplyDelete
  123. Hi its me again small-tool Ihave read your hints for level 47 but as you may gather maths is not my strong point I understand about the axis but I do not understand how to use the pairs of words for the co-ordinates a hint would be grateful

  124. If you got your dots on top and on the right filled, then it's just looking where the two letters from a two lettter word (not a word pair!!) cross on the board.
For example the word AS is the first coordinate. On the dots on the right should be an A on the 6th row and on the dots on top an S on the 5th column. They cross on the board on the T in JOYSTEPSA.
So the T is the first letter.
Keep doing it and you'll get your 9 letter word answer (no anagram).

  125. Hi Ladysue,
The dots on the picture in lvl 47 are used as coordinates to locate letters. First you need to label the co-ordinates. Use the first lots of italics, but read as S-T suggested with a colon between 'moves' & 'in'. There are 16 letters left and you need 16 coordinates.
Then use the next lot of italics, all 2 letter words to locate the 9-letter answer.

  126. Oops - Sorry S-T, you posted while I while typing.

  129. I am still here pondering on level 50 it will probably take me another day but I will not give up but you will know when I do finish

    ReplyDelete
  130. Said it before and saying it again: Go, go, go girl :)

50 is not that hard. Just combine what you did on level 10 and 45.
No anagram, but a very long (sentence) answer.

  131. Despite all hints I am not able to solve 44. The final step (remind her)doesn't make any sense at all to me. Granmaa is making long days and doesn't give me anything. I really would like to finish but can't find the solution. Any (more) help please. BTW, I'm not English and googled the remind her part and that's where I go wrong I guess.

  132. iki,
remind her, looks like the maths word: remainder.

    ReplyDelete
  133. thanks s-t, I did try to make a word from the "leftovers" after the math on the 9 pairs. But obviously I'm not doing it the right way. First pair would be a p? Sorry to bother you again but it's so frustrating to be stuck on something that probably isn't even that difficult.

  134. Ike...Show me what you have for the first equation. :)

    ReplyDelete
  135. 12514/2085 would be the first.

    ReplyDelete
  136. then do that math...you will have a remainder...then recalculate without the remainder. Subtract those 2 final numbers

    ReplyDelete
  137. Thanks Yoli, I'll give it a try !

    ReplyDelete
  138. Answer to first Calculation is 4.

  139. Yoli, it almost was ! On to 45 now and many thanks.

  145. hey guys!
sorry i'm no native speaker and so my english is very bad...i'm still stuck at lvl 2 'cause i can't figure out what's the thing on the right side of the house(i think it's no ladder...) so i can't use the anagram solver -.-* pleeeeeease can anyone help me?

  146. Hi Little O,
Those are just little bricks. Level 2 is about counting. So you need to count and then change numbers to letters. :)

  147. Now Clio, how did this happen??? Arrie was talking about Zoe and I being "forever stuck" at level 25 in Small's 50 Shades of Sadistry. And you have to go and mention this riddle... Level 11 - oh dear I did once have a life - honest ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  148. Oh....hahhaha. I misunderstood. I thought Arrie meant Zoe was stuck in this riddle. OOOOPS.
