playing in usawan, my signs were from top to bottom on the boot:

And yes, I too did not understand what Nini was talking about (I was simply at a too early stage in the game) and TADAA - they perfectly caught me in the 'boot trap'! Nasty dead end!
And then, they even did not use a unique "picture code" which will make the situation even worse for people who FORGOT to wash the boot first!
(This'll teach me next time - you can bet your life on it!!)
I played it a 2nd time and had the same zodiac signs: water, libra, gemini, cancer, libra, gemini, water and water. Still the painting won't come of. I think I quit. Nothing works anymore and I can't look at my boot anymore.

ReplyDeleteSome hints & workarounds:
ReplyDelete1) Pixel Hunt: There is a formula on left side of desk with pirate hat on it.
2) There are at least three ways to combine the two clues on the crystal balls (when you eventually get them lit). The correct way in this game is to turn the appropriate direction the number of times in the first digit, then the next direction the number of times in the second digit, etc. Yes, it it is lots of turning. (see #3)
3) BUG: When you turn the ship's wheel be sure to click the arrows, clicking the wheel itself makes it turn but doesn't work.
4) You need to wash the boot in the fountain to see the code on the bottom. Wish authors put dirt on it so you knew to do this. Notice the arrows around the code.
p.s. That is everywhere I got stuck. Good luck!
May be its too late but i got only 6 knives put them in a barrel but nothing happen ...are there 9 knives in a game ?

ReplyDeleteI'm starting to think that somebody who had X knives will also have Y zodiac signs to solve and have combination Z as solution, e. g. that the "8-knivers" always have the Gemini and not the Pisces and so on.
Maybe I can make a list of possible combinations for the picture (I bet they are not randomized, since that would be too much programming effort ;))

The codes and the hints remained the same.

As I usually double-check everything before believing it entirely, I got me that game file down and decompiled it...
One point clearly goes to you: THERE IS NO GEMINI and there never was!
There is ONE picture in the images container with:
TL = Pisces
TR = Cancer
BL = Libra
BR = Aquarius
Full stop.
Everybody who said 'Gemini' simply MISREAD the Pisces as Gemini, because they're alike to some extent (Rule of thumb: Gemini looks like a Roman 'II'; Pisces has got a vertical dash in the center)
So no more fairy tales for me now, since I got the truth in my software ;)
Rather than zodiac signs, I think it's clearer if you say TL, TR, BL, etc. It may be that the signs are different, but the order is not, but not sure about that...

There is only ONE IMAGE of the boot sole with the code on it in the game file!
So no, there are no different combinations.
I guess on my side I got the game engine into 'frustration' by trying around with the picture too many times (messing up the buffer??)

ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure the thing with the knives and the pirate works like this. There are 9 knives. One random slot will eject the pirate key. Keep finding knives and trying them in the barrel until the pirate key comes out. After the pirate comes out you can't take use or take any more knives. (There's a kid's toy you can buy that works something like that).
ReplyDeleteI'm stuck (kinda). I just got the wheel and put it in the wall. I can see the S on it, so I have 2 letters, but I don't have the third. Nini said that she got the clue for the pointers at the same time/about the same time? I can now enter numbers below the left crystal ball, so I must have found a clue, but I don't know what it is.
