Like the fact there has been a regime change here and like 'the real reason' why certain creators like Amajeto and Selfdefiant aren't posted here anymore.
It is the players that keeps a site like this alive, not the admins and the owners. The least you could do is tell them/us about the new ownership and what the plans are with EG24.
Burgers - to be fair it's only been an hour since my post ha ha. Not like admins are always around to answer within minutes (or even hours). I'm sure they are very busy with life as are we all.
ReplyDeleteBut at some point it would be nice to get clarification on why certain devs no longer get posted here. 5n is another developer that has released tons of new games but no longer is posted here. Maybe they just don't want to meet the demands of this website (like games must be hosted here so that EG24 can recoup some advertising revenue). Stuff like that can be invisible to the average visitor of this website but be very important to the dev as well as who owns/operates EG24.
Since now several publishers/devs seem to find a way of making these games a business so to speak, revenues from ads (be it hosting the game as well as posting walkthrough video) can be huge for survival. So I try and give EG24 the benefit of the doubt for decisions they make and also try and be sympathetic to the devs. Everybody wants to survive and even thrive even as online world is constantly adjusting around them.
Yes, all very true. But my main point is: Inform the players. It's very odd (and that's using very mild terms) a once so great community like EG24 was not informed about a new regime. The decent thing to do is, though way too late, to still do that.

as you may noticed, all games (except traditionally the Japan. ones) have an EG24 play link
unfortunately Amajeto refuses to have their games linked to such a link - therefore we don't post their creations anymore on EG24
(but you always can go directly to Amajeto's site to play their games - although I know that it's not the same to play just on your own without any «backup» from other players providing help in comments if needed)
being «only» an admin, I don't make the rules - alas!
as for me, I don't agree with this policy
like this, we unfortunately have lost 2 of our best crowd pullers (it's the same for SD's own creations) :-(
btw, if you want to submit a game, you have several possibilities:
- the «contact us» link on each page (about submitting broken links, beneath the game description)
- the «contact us» link bottom right on each page

- by clicking my nick & submitting to me (as an admin)

And that was about all my posts being deleted while they were about why such posts shouldn't be deleted. So, didn't feel like answering that.
Maybe will answer your mail, your request of summing up what I (as player from way and way back, the high times of EG24) think can be better on EG24. But since my main point of what's wrong is; it not a community (anymore) and that caused by:
1) players not allowed to give their opinion.
2) things not out in the open.
So mailing you would be doing what I protest against. It would be great if there would be a special chat-box and/or a special comment section to give players a voice, a vote. But a real inter-active one and not something like the poll one or two years ago that resulted in the ridiuclous best/other escape games section.
With 'random' and 'replay' games also there, you got the very ridiculous situation when opening the homepage you can't even, without scrolling, see the new games!!!
Many more ideas, but as mentioned above I want it to be a community and I want everyone to join the discussion. A lot of people have opinions, but till now all those opinions were delted and now we face an EG24 like it is now (don't have the figures, but I'm sure it's a low in comments) and I know for a fact a lot of great and fun players left to other sites (like Sniffmouse) and/or made their own sites.
Hoping for better times.
BBB those are my words exactly, I do want chatbox or any method to give users oppurtunity to speak what's in their minds, instead of those 'random' or 'replay' games which is unnecessary, despite our sour past, we're in the same rope, I too want EG24 the top site as community as well as games.

Alpha does the best of posting.
