A good game, but a few issues meant it won't be on my replay list.
ReplyDeleteLike most people I found it very frustrating not being able see orbs and I had to just systematically paint every pixel in every screen to collect enough. Back in the day there used to be extra orbs but now it seems there is barely enough. Thankfully I didn't buy the instant transport ball, because I wouldn't have finished the game.
Which leads me to my next gripe: Apparently if you made the correct purchases then it could have been easier to find orbs, the problem here is that you don't have a clear idea of what you're buying especially if you happened to be a SD newbie. A mouseover description of what each item in the shop does would be a huge benefit.
Finally I was disappointed that the map didn't have the colored pens to annotate the map. I find it really useful to mark the required key color on doors I can't open yet, and to mark rooms with puzzles.
On the plus side, I thought the puzzles were great. Some made no sense initially but later on I realised the logic behind them.
I loved the alternate reality concept, it was very cool.
I really appreciate your work SD, but I feel that with a few tweaks this could have been an all-time classic.
This one was meant to be a lot more intense and difficult than the others. I have requests from a lot of players to make a game more difficult and I think this one does just that. The orbs are meant to be difficult to see otherwise the music box would be irrelevant. The map does allow you to write on it, if you purchase the magic pen. I had to get creative with this one to take it to a whole new level. Yes purchasing things was supposed to make you think and sometimes fail but that being said, you can get through because there are extra orbs beyond what you need to purchase everything. That was intentional.
DeleteThe screen suddenly went white after a half hour of this and couldn't retrieve it. Not my pc at fault. You have idea how ticked off I am. Please don't put these stupid games up if they don't work and waste players time! I will regrettably never play another of your games. Insert string of expletives here.

My magic pen doesn't write on the map at all
ReplyDeleteI haven't managed to finish this yet but am loving it! I have 10 gems but am struggling to find doors for two of the skeleton keys and don't know what the pen is for. There are two more items in the orb shop but I can't find enough of the right orbs to buy them. Soldiering on!
ReplyDeleteOkay, having replayed it (after saying I wouldn't ), it is definitely easier to play if the first thing you purchase is the music box to see the orbs. Still took me 10 mins of blindly swiping my mouse around to get enough corrupted orbs. I agree with catlady that the pen is a dud. Didn't do anything to the map in either realities.

ReplyDeletePretty cool way to try out new features, it's ok for us to be unofficial beta testers. Each new item, the rose colored glasses, the music box, the pen, had a new function to try and figure out how to use. The portal was a nice touch, a good way to pack more puzzles in the same map. This was fun, but in the beginning, the orbs could be a little more prominent, I first thought that the glasses were to see the orbs, that would make more sense.

ReplyDeleteReally a great game, I love the changes you added SD. I would just ask that the items in the shop have a description of what they do. I think that would increase the functionality of the game without taking away from the difficulty and intensity.

I also didn't get the magic pen to work, but you can write notes on the map, so it didn't matter. Lots of new things to work out . Thanks SD and looking forward to the next one.
