ReplyDeleteneed a screwdriver ;-)
ReplyDeletedon't get it...
ReplyDeleteNot a screwdriver, a blooming great big hammer, we'll smash the box to smithereens.
ReplyDeleteLOL
ReplyDeleteInstructions say that you need to think out of the box.

ReplyDeleteHi all!
ReplyDeletehey again Ruff,, prepare to be frustrated
ReplyDeleteHi Ruff. Good luck, I'm clueless on this one.
ReplyDeleteI'm not getting a hand cursor at all.
ReplyDeletewoah, i can strech the box lid up, by clicking and dragging
ReplyDeleteI'm frustrated already! I think the goal of this game is to open the box. In the description, we may even need a microphone which I don't have.
ReplyDeleteI don't see how a microphone would work with the game music so loud!!!
ReplyDeleteWell I tried turning on "Mouse keys" "sticky keys" Redirecting the URL. I tried pressing every key on keyboard once including holding some for a period of time and tapping some 5 times in a row.
I even tried typing simple sentences/words like.
"KEY" "OPEN" etc...
but I cant get anywhere besides dragging the lid..
well this game is...
ReplyDeleteodd!
i can say just: what the ....
ReplyDeleteMegipoland is getting a big kick outta watching up pull our hair out, i'll bet
ReplyDeleteCan't do anything except dragging the lid. I'm leaving this mystery for someone else to solve.
ReplyDeleteBye everyone! See you!
from the comments written below the game page we need a microphone for this one i think.you need to blow into microphone so that lid opens or something like that...lame!!
ReplyDeleteI am trying to drag box high as it can go, then right click to keep box lifted, and then click somewhere on box seeing if that will work. Cant find any hot spots but just an idea to try.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it is just matter of perception. Lid can actualy be inside of a box that is already open :)
ReplyDeletefinally got out of the last room, only to find I can't get into this one, lol/cry
ReplyDeleteexcuse me please, how are we supposed to start the game? I have the screen with the box and torches and nowhere to click.. I think
ReplyDeleteweird..
ReplyDeletei'm not seeing any comments about a microphone.
ReplyDelete@Megi, don't make me take back all those nice things I said about you! (lol, just kidding)
If you are going to attempt microphone things make sure you right click settings and allow. that way it will be able to hear you? I think anyways.

WHAT A MEAN THING TO DO JUSTYWUSTY87
ReplyDeleteHa ha Justy, this box is NOT meant to be open. Let's try other things to open it. I'm using the power of the force, come on Luke, use the force.
ReplyDeleteLol good one justywusty87, I thought something was happening then realised I'd accidently clicked the ad above
ReplyDeletetheres absolutely no way to open it
ReplyDeleteRuth love, please don't shout, we're going nowhere so let's have a bit of fun along the way.
ReplyDeleteI tried to print it thinking it might trigger an event and print a combination to type...
ReplyDeletedon't try this it filled a whole page entirely with black ink.. LMAO...
Now I need new ink...
Just realized the "OPEN THE" at the top looks like numbers are in it. Upside down I can see 47 where the th is in the. Not sure if this is a clue.
ReplyDeletewent to Kongregate game site for some clues and found this description:
ReplyDeleteGames such as these have been circulating around the internet since the late 80s. The earliest such instance was created and published in 1987 by Thomas Alpine, a very inventive and creative man 10 years before his time. The engine he designed circulated around high-compatibility user interface and a simplistic, effective command design. His techniques are mimicked by such high-end companies as Cing and Valve.
Before the rise of heavy technique-point styled games, Thomas Alpine and companion Richard Brooks worked in creating some of the finest game-engines of the early 90s and into the new millennium. One such engine is used in Tetris, and another in the highly famous Asteroid game that is still being circulated and reproduced today through more modern companies. Together, Alpine and Brooks designed some of the most groundbreaking games in gaming history.
In 2001, a new strategy for game production and engine design was released that made most of Alpine’s engines obsolete. Though Alpine didn’t give up, his partner Brooks did. Brooks went on to become a level designer for Nintendo of America, working on such games as Super Mario 64 and Donkey Kong 64. There is no way to win this game. Alpine continued working independently, porting his obsolete engines to the new systems, and once again rocking the gaming industry. His hard work and dedication are an inspiration to any programmer, and his revolutionary way of thinking continues to impact the gamers of tomorrow.
in the last paragraph, there is a sentence that says: There is no way to win this game. The game's designer, AceDecade is also posting on the Kongregate messageboard and is hinting to people to read the above description carefully. So my take is:
There is no solution... its all for cheap laughs and the joke is on us. Quit now.
Everybody says read the instructions of the artist for the clue, so here it is: (don't get it yet)
ReplyDeleteclick here for the site of the maker of this game copied is comment:
ARTIST's Comments:
Contains a 10 second sample from the song:
Ascend to Oblivion - God is an Astronaut
Open the box however you can. You are encouraged to think "outside the box," no pun intended. Try a manner of things, such as mouse keys, clicking and dragging, and even use of the microphone. I don't want to give too much away, but the left torch looks a little suspicious to me...

The previous essay is completely fictitious.
kudos to escapegames24.com for putting up some great games...but you guys let this one slip by. remove immediately.
ReplyDeleteIf you go to the link
ReplyDeletehttp://acedecade.deviantart.com/art/Mystery-Box-109169124?offset=90
and click download it will open in full screen showing more than what is in the box. so maybe something outside the box is clickable or dragable to find key?
@justywusty87, that's the ame link as in comment 88, but what I was reading there, the answer has to be in the autors comment, see comment 88. Only thing I see is: "There is no way to win this game."
ReplyDeleteSo I also think it's just a joke this game...
I think when we stretch the box, we are opening it from the back. Therefore the box is open but is still a mystery box because we can't see what is in it. Therefore we have all completed this task!
ReplyDeleteSorry for my typo's in my comments, some of the letters disapeared :(
ReplyDeletelike comment 88: copied His comment
like comment 91: the Same link ;)
already late here lol
@masydoka, lol, also a good thought!! hahaha
ReplyDeleteYes Same link!
ReplyDeleteI know.
So if David really decompiled it, and thats what it shows, then there is most likely no way to beat it.
Congratulations to the people who beat it.. By which I mean figured it all out before they wasted 3 hours of their life.. lol.
@justywusty87, hahaha lol, hope you didn't tried it for 3 hours ;)
ReplyDeletesee you around, good night, bye
damn, and to think Cat lost a beer on this one....
ReplyDeleteshame on them.. but I still want to believe masydoka's theory, brilliant.. another theory is that the screen shows as the inside of the real mystery box, and to open it you must first go outside of it by closing the game window, which I did right... now
ReplyDeletesee yall in the next REAL game
I think Corola is right "There is no way to win this game." that is the hint from the author, and he realy enjoy to beat all of us. Bulgaria already hate this man :)
ReplyDeleteand wich is the purpose to publish this game?
ReplyDeleteMaybe we're supposed to zoom in on the left torch and use a mircrophone to blow it out?
ReplyDelete@Catalyse, no sorry, one of the comments on the site of the author (link see comment 88) is, this comment of the author himself:
ReplyDelete"You don't need a mic, you just need to read the directions."
And there you can read: "There is no way to win this game."
i ask the author is that the answer we looking for - "There is no way to win this game."? And he say Ssh
