Start with the directions from after defeating the man with the red beard (after you enter the gate)!
How I found the Directions:
Simply talk with the Bartender, and he'll give a gun. Talk to him once more, and he'll give you a beer. Catch the Beer when it's right in front of you. Once done, give beer to the drunken guy, and he'll give you the directions. Access Box Of Tricks and click on Drunken Jibbering, and you'll find those directions!
Really, if no-one wants to watch video walkthroughs, or read the Official Text Walkthrough, I think I'll just have to write one myself...

This is one of the best games I've played in a long time, right up until the horse race! I've played it 9 times and just can't beat it. Really a shame.
