ReplyDeleteOut too. Look at the position of the arrows on the clocks for where they are supposed to go on the door.

ReplyDelete((friends + enemies) - (friends - enemies))/2
Then take the figure that gives is the value for enemies, then use one of the equations to work out friends.

ReplyDeleteThe arrows on the clocks are placed on top or bottom, left or right "corners", so no really trial and error on those.
for diamonds, first was green/purple

Get the first clock from the tractor wheel
Get the first dollar from the VERY bottom of the screen (left of the table)
Click it in your inventory and move your mouse to the game screen to see a closer view of it
Go right
Note the diamonds over the fireplace
Get the second dollar from the left side of the mantle
Get the second watch from the floor (in line with the right edge of the mantle at the VERY bottom of the screen)
Get the third watch from the bend in the pipe
Get the matches sticking out from the right side of the fireplace hearth
Zoom in on the fireplace
See the second math code
Still zoomed in, get the fourth watch from the pot on the left
Zoom in on the box and note it needs 2 numbers -- for friends and enemies
While zoomed in, get the third dollar from the floor
Do the math and enter the code
I did it by trail and error, but @Pierre explains that

Go left
Enter the code into the desk drawer

ReplyDeleteYes they are. Look at the position of the arrows on the clocks. they are in top/right, top/left, bottom/right, bottom/left. use the same position on the clocks as on the door and point the arrows that direction

ReplyDeleteThere are 4 arrows on the clocks. If you look at them, one is in the upper left (about 11 positon), one in the upper right (about 1 position), one in the lower right (about 5 position) and one in the lower left (about 8 position).
ReplyDeleteSet the upper left circle on the door the same as the upper left clock arrow. Set the upper right circle on the door the same as the upper right clock arrow.
Set all 4 and go to the fireplace. Nothing seems to happen in the door scene, but the fireplace should have moved.
Two of my clocks show the same hour, how do we use these clocks ?

Nothing wrong with the walkthrough, it's perfect.
As I tried to say before (but maybe not as clear as I should due to the work rush), the only way to solve the arrows on the clocks logically -without bruteforcing or trial and error- is to look at the positions of the arrows ON the clocks, as kkf explains in the WT.
ReplyDeleteSorry @s-t, but since the clocks go to inventory in the order they are collected, then your 1-4 method cannot always be the appropriate one.
Ah thanks, didn't notice the clocks go in the inventory in the order you find them. So by coincedence I had them in that order.

As far as I can tell (and as previously posted) there's no hint neither for dollars nor for diamonds, but I could notice the arrows positions since start. I also did the math the "hard way" but fortunately @Pierre's method is infallible.

The dollar in front of the table is the most left one. So that number is left.
In the fireplace scene the dollar in front of the E-F box is more to the right then the one in front of the table and the one on the mantle is even more to the right.
So the order is table-box-mantle.

By difference you figure out that Friends = 83
