ReplyDeletesafe on floor

ReplyDeletemap math
the key-island is 6 cm 25'000:1 = 1500 m
but how do I convert that into 4 digit number
with swne?
Good afternoon LOL
ReplyDeleteHi Leroy - help is welcome
ReplyDeleteOpened safe to get lantern with clue on it.
ReplyDeletePuzzledin - hint please
ReplyDeleteHello Leroy and Swiss Miss.
ReplyDeleteWhat to do with lantern?
The key is not 6 cm but 5 cm! so 25,000:1 is 1250m...
ReplyDeleteis it numbers like 9281 or thereabouts?
ReplyDeleteOK, back of the "key" paper shows NESW, but at different orientations.
ReplyDeleteBack of other paper shows 4 numbers at the same orientations with some overlap.
For instance N=5 at top.
oops leroy - ty - need coffee - early morning here
ReplyDeletety - got it now
ReplyDeleteTook some staring.
ReplyDeleteThen, use clue on safe for the order.
with flashlight you can highlight wall-puzzle
ReplyDeleteIs there another view?
ReplyDeleteI can't find anything to interact with now.
Ah, ty, swissmiss -- ask and it will be provided?!
ReplyDeleteyes Puzzledin - left of window and a bit down is a faint outline of a clock - I think the hint from safe is used there
ReplyDeleteclue on flashlight, 12=365
ReplyDeleteSolved wall puzzle for a ladder.
ReplyDeletethe flashlight says 12 = 365
ReplyDeleteand in the safe N 1/12 and S 1/12
but how to convert this into time?
And out!
ReplyDeletePuzzle you are good at those - why dont you give hints as well instead of just saying you have done it?
ReplyDeleteToo tired to think too deeply with this one so messing with the other new game (still have this game open though)
ReplyDeleteSM, what do 12 and 365 make you think of?
ReplyDelete(think of a calendar)
well its month and year but that doesnt help me
ReplyDeleteSM, I'm trying to, but not immediately.
ReplyDeleteFor last number, look at the line of thought you and Leroy were on earlier!
Yes. N=1 of 12, S=1 of 12, so they are months.
ReplyDeleteObviously 12 365 = months days ....
ReplyDeleteJanuary ...
ReplyDeleteFebruary ...
thanks - now got it - but why the island and its scale? totally misleading
ReplyDeletefor clock i was using the 1250 clue. But ten to one doesn't work for me.
ReplyDeleteah out - the island was for the final clue !
ReplyDeleteNo, not misleading -- you need that to get out!
ReplyDeleteA real brain-twister!
ReplyDeletea bit far fetched - N = November = 11 and S = September = 9
ReplyDeletebut with all the North, South, etc. I was looking for degrees ...
@Yvon, one of the hands on the clock is the same as the compass rose on the safe (for North).
ReplyDeletethanks Puzzle, with your en SM clues i got out.
ReplyDeleteYes, SwissMiss. I think the best puzzles are the ones that are slightly misleading, then you realize all the clues were there.
ReplyDeleteGot lucky in that I happened to focus on the clues in the right order.
and just in case a spoiler for first safe number

Window Escape Walkthrough
ReplyDelete[I waited hoping someone else would write this. But EGDAWT so here is mine...]
Pull cord by window.
This tears a paper in half -- one on the floor and one in the cord.
Look at each piece, front and back.
Look on the floor where you picked up the paper to see a safe.
Note that it wants 4 numbers in West-East-South-North order.
The back of the paper with a key on it shows NESW in a cross-like formation.
The back of the other paper is a bunch of lines in a similar formation.
Using the pattern on the lines, you should be able to make out the following numbers:
N=5 and S=2 fairly easily (they're the same up or down)
Now cover the lines used for 5 and 2, and remembering the directions for W and E you can make out W=9 and E=4.
Open the safe and press the button.
Get a flashlight and a code in the safe:
N=1/12
S=1/12
Take the flashlight and click on the wall, slightly left of center below the window.
See a clock with two hands. One has the same type of arrow as was used on the safe to point north.
Look at the flashlight more closely (use about item, then click again) and see "12=365".
This tells you that 1 year = 12 months = 365 days.
So if N=1/12, and S=1/12, they must be months.
Only 1 month starts with N and only 1 month starts with 12, so use these to set the clock.
Set the clock and hear a click.
Go back to the safe, and see a new compartment has opened.
Pull out a ladder, and go to climb out the window.
Another code is required, a key followed by 4 numbers followed by "m".
Look again at the blue sides of the two pieces of paper.
The key is 5 hash marks long.
The scale is 1:25000, with 1 hashmark - 1 cm.
Enter the conversion, then click the "m" and the window opens.
And with all that hard brain work, you've lost enough weight to slip out that little window!
SPOILERS:
Floor safe: SPOILER9425SPOILER
Clock: Set the arrow hand on 11 and the other hand on 9 and click the button under it.
Window:
So the drawn key is 5 cm and 1 cm = .01 m
5 x 25,000 = 125,000 cm
and 125,000 * .01 = 1250 m
