All right, this tale might need a little back story… I live in Colorado, USA, near the city of Colorado Springs. We’ve had the worst wildfire in the history of the state over the past week or so, and only just last night did firefighters from around the country manage to get it 77% contained, allowing those whose homes were not destroyed (over 300 were) to return home. We’ve also had the hottest days in the state’s history due to this fire.
ReplyDeleteAll right, on to the fun part!
Another Stealthy Treasure Hunt
After awaking with a headache and wanting nothing more than to quietly hide behind my laptop, I discover a new SSSG adventure from everyone’s favorite, Selfdefiant! No one try to tell me that a new SD is not good for a headache, as mine has quickly vanished.
First, after a little coin gathering, I make a right turn,
It’s a field of… some sort of plant… with two cross-shaped sign posts. Someone must have run out of ink before they could right on the second one. Maybe they went out to buy some more. “Leo” is written on the other… Wondering over this, I backtrack and make a left.
Pool! Living near Colorado Springs, Colorado, I decide to take a refreshing dip to cool off, then investigate the box on the table. It’s locked with a number code.
I backtrack again and turn my attention towards the building.
Map! Also, someone appears to be preparing for a wine and cheese tasting… or something… Ah, there’s also a shovel, and something that looks like a menu… “A=1.”
I return to the field and dig at the base of the blank sign to find a silver key. Straightening, I happen to glance at the other. Oh, right—Leo.
Testing a hypothesis, I return to the pool. I convert “LEO” as the menu instructed and enter the code into the box. Huzzah! Medallion IV.
I return to the building and use the key to enter.
Again, living near Colorado Springs, I cringe a bit at the fireplace. I avoid that part of the room and flip the switch on the opposite wall. The path up is locked, so I turn right.
ReplyDeleteI flip the kitchen switch, then head down.
A bathroom. I flip the switch here as I admire the lovely mirror. Back to the kitchen, then a right turn.
I deduce from the poured wine that someone was here recently. Time to enter extra-sneaky mode. Something in that glass there looks odd… Well, what do you know—Medallion VI. After drying it off, I turn right again.
Er… really, I just moved to a new vantage point of the dining room… I become a few coins richer, but that’s about it. Another right turn, I suppose.
Not much in the sitting room, either. I admire the openness of the architecture, then turn to my right.
Before leaving the room entirely, I see another switch to flip. I move on to the next room with another right turn.
Books! It warms my English major heart. Hmm… something on one of them…? Maybe I’ll find a duster of some sort later. Right turn—wait… A locked door!? I was beginning to wonder if I’d even see one. Backtrack to the sitting room, then.
I try the downward path—another locked door! I backtrack once more and take the path up.
Another sitting area, this one with a small table… A spray bottle of vinegar… Ooh, sneaky coin! Well, right turn here.
Matches, but not much more… I backtrack three times to the dining room.
I try the downward path to find another bedroom. Lovely headboard on that bed… Finally! A drawer without socks, eye masks, and… who knows what else… It’s a screwdriver! I flip another switch, backtrack, and take the path upward.
I see a nice TV, become a few coins richer, but not much else. I turn left… to a locked door. Upstairs it is, then.
Someone in this house is quite the art collector. I turn left.
It’s like a miniature art gallery up here. There’s a locked case of some sort… Without the code, I turn left again.
It’s a nice bedroom with one of those pesky screwed down pictures. I remove it to find a white key. I backtrack four times, turn right twice, and open the door downward. There’s a hammer—I get to smash something! I pause for a “The Avengers” movie joke. Beside the bed is a levels box. I take note, then return to the dining room.
Hmm… now what? Wandering, I end up back in the kitchen bathroom. Huh… Random blue tile. It’s been well-caulked, so there’s nowhere to get my screwdriver in… Time to smash! Aha! A blue key… Blue tile, blue key… Makes sense.
I return to the bookshelf nook and unlock the door.
I snicker a little at the pillow—iEmail. Next to the bed is a letter box. Huh… this is the first time I can remember a clue and box of any sort being in the same room… Hmm… bedroom… probably a monogrammed pillow… but with the letters shuffled, oddly enough… I run through the list of names in my head… the long list… Oh, Emilia! I enter it into the box, and… Medallion III! Continue right to…
A nice bath tub. I see four numbers above the fireplace and make note of them. On a hunch, I light the candles… and get a black key!
While I can remember the numbers, I return upstairs to the locked case.
With Medallion I is a typewriter. I mourn the lack of paper upon which to type and return to the first room to unlock the door.
I find a rather simple bedroom… with a very modern bathroom to the left. I realize why the switches never turned lights on or off—they opened a safe with a gold key in it! I return to the TV/staircase room and unlock the door.
ReplyDeleteAnother bedroom without much in it… I’m suspicious of the large picture directly above the bed, but move on to the bathroom.
Aw… What a cute lighthouse picture. I bump the center lighthouse and stumble upon Medallion II.
Now I’m missing only Medallion V… I’ve found no duster or place for the vineg—suddenly, it sinks in… With a heavy heart, I return to the bookshelves. Closing my eyes, praying that fellow English majors can forgive me, I spray the books with the vinegar. When I dare to open my eyes, I see the levels clue. Keeping it in mind, I drag my way back to the levels box.
Entering the levels code, I find Medallion V. Now, what about the safe?
Wandering, I find myself back in the sitting room. With a sigh, I lean back against the wall. I aimlessly flip the switch as I contemplate my conundrum. Wait—was that some sort of click I heard? It came from the direction of the gold key room…
I investigate to find the safe! I knew that picture was suspicious! I place the Medallions, open the safe…
Treasure! Now, away into another sunset with one more sneaky adventure for the history books.
Thank you, Layla! I loved your story!
ReplyDeleteHope you are safe from the fires ...
And thanks @sd for yet another fun game and yet another new sneaky twist (reversing the switches).
Wow Layla, what a cute and funny WT !!! Very special, thank you :)
ReplyDeletePlease, where is the safe room for medallions?
ReplyDelete@Vanessa, the safe is in room T, but only shows up after you switch back one of the switches (not sure if it matters which one, but walkthrough from Premiere suggests E switch)
ReplyDeleteyeah!! thanks Laura :)
ReplyDeleteI loved the game and all the Walkthroughs!
ReplyDeleteEspecially Layla's...and very happy you are safe!
Heheh. Thanks, everyone. As of now, it seems they've almost got the fire completely under control.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Layla, for the very fun walkthru!! Made my day. :)
ReplyDeleteSo great to have different perspectives. Glad you are safe, Layla!
ReplyDeleteThanks, FireFly. Glad you enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteTo Layla:
ReplyDeleteThank you for a very entertaining back story =D
Your fireplace parallax will certainly give other people food for thought, and I hope things are finally calming down for you in Colorado and that the headache is gone for a while.
To anyone:
I don't think it matters which switch you flip back up. Mine appeared after turning the one in scene M off.
To Selfdefiant:
Another lovely game, thank you, and a nice surprise =D
You might laugh at the difficulty I had with the anagram - My two-year-old granddaughter's name is AMILIE, and for some reason I could NOT get my head round the spelling of any other name. I eventually got it by accident ;)
Also, I'm not sure if it's intentional, but I'm fond of the way I can manipulate and examine items in my inventory while the game is paused. For anyone to whom the score, and therefore time, is important, I'm certain this will be a great help =D
fun game, as always. I love all of the walkthroughs for it.
ReplyDeleteEasy other than the anagram.
Hi, I am relatively new to escape games and have found that SelfDefiant games to be the best. They are logical and difficult.. perhaps it is because I am new.. but I love his games. How do I post, how do I get involved in a new running game? I have only finished once.. I think, with all the coins. But I love these games... SD can be rivaled by no other..he has a great following.. I recognize the names from past years (again, I am new to this).. and he has sequence...and he seems to care about his games and his reputation, and his wife!
ReplyDeleteThank you all and I would love to play a game someday live.
