Haha - the combined score of the five instalments of this series (five, not four, as there was a prologue) is roughly 2.5 stars, no instalment going above 3.
ReplyDeleteI guess I'll pass on it :)
oh, you made me curious bio .... let's take a look.
ReplyDeleteIt's made in the kitchen ... I love soup.
ReplyDeleteOkay, this is not your average game, more like a detective story. But, it has to do with Scotland, and I love Scotland .... and soup. So, reading on.
ReplyDeleteAfter all is said and done in the train, I found myself near a gate and turned left. I'm inside the house now.
ReplyDeleteTrying to stay downstairs at first. Going forward, there's a teacup, with the tea still warm in it.
I opened a door in that room, storage, some bottles, I took an oil lamp.
Going to the right side, found a small door, which leads into the garden. I need a key to open the cellar, but at the well I took a rope.
ReplyDeleteAnd I need to dig into the ground left of it (not with bare hands).
Back into the storage room again, on the left I find a diary, and of course, the last pages have been ripped off.
October 12, 1887, poor mr. Du Pré fell ill.
October 13, Jonthewatch just left, did a good job on the clocks.
Back into the hallway, I find a clock that is missing a hand.
ReplyDeleteGoing upstairs now.
Walking to the right I take a hook and a piece of the diary in a chest.
August 5th, 1887. The author gets scared of the statues in the house.
Going right takes me into the library.
In the fireplace inside the library I find an envelope.
ReplyDeleteOn the desk is an invoice. The payment for the changes on the cuckoo clock. It will only give strokes at 18.15 h.
And all clocks in the house have been synchronized.
Also there's a letter to Alexandre
June 8th, 1887.... an amazing formula ... a new method ... (no details of course)
Videte ne quis sciat (See - no one - that). Perhaps a warning to let no one see that formula?
.
Using hook and rope I took the bucket, it has a bird for the clock but nothing happens.
ReplyDeleteIn the greenhouse I only saw an angel statue and a broken pane.
ReplyDeleteComing out of the library, there's a door next to the chest, which leads into a dark room, pictures are hanging there.
ReplyDeleteI take the light bulb with white light (too soon. I was warned not to put the black envelope in white light and of course planned to do just that, alas).
I clean my hands with water.
I won't take the cyanide.
A book with chemistry recipes.
3149 Collodion for Photography.
3151 Positive image.
3150 Failures.
Seriously bore now-
ReplyDeleteStill upstairs entering the last room I find ... Alexandre.
ReplyDeleteHe's not responding to my questions.
Btw, you can combine items by clicking one and onto the other.
The cuckoo clock overhere is missing an important piece: the bird.
The clock has been tilted to the left.
On the desk a paper, the box is empty.
*bored. It is too dark.
ReplyDeleteAh thank you Magda, didn't try to get the bucket out of the well.
ReplyDeleteI finally found vitriol in the greenhouse.
ReplyDeleteThere's a recently killed deer outside (in the woods in front of house)... Use the bulb on it and place it back in the lamp...
ReplyDeleteI need to put the plate in a suitable place? Trying to find it.
ReplyDeletePut the plate in the sink and use vitrol and cyanide on it... Then clean it with water...
ReplyDeleteAnd there's the bird for the cuckoo clock.
ReplyDeleteI decided to go out the front door to the gate, It can be opened.
LOL, okay Magda, that is the greenhouse.
Going out of the greenhouse again, moving forward, a new scene.
With old Roman ruins.
I have a photo now.
ReplyDeleteShowed photo to Alexandre and found clock hand.
ReplyDeleteGreat !, I describe the scenes, you all solve the case haha, thanks for lightbulb on the deer.
ReplyDeleteAfter using clue for clock I have key. Going for the cellar.
ReplyDeleteNow of course the light is dimmed enough to open the envelope.
ReplyDeleteTake the plate out of the envelope, put it in the basin, turn the tap on, take cyanide.
things have to be done in their specific order. Back to the recipe book on the ground.
Digging!
ReplyDeleteboooring ...
ReplyDeleteThanks again Magda, vitriol.
ReplyDeleteHmm, after taking the picture, the lightbulb exploded.

ReplyDeleteI Laughed for real at your comment about Scotland and soup. That made my morning. Glad you gave this game a shot. I highly recommend you play all the chapters in order to get the whole story. They are sequential and all are well done. Whatever you decide, thanks for leaving a trail here for us to follow

ReplyDeleteThanks Nuckelhedd Jones, I like this comment better ... (WOW, smiles).
ReplyDeleteMagda !! Where's the shovel to dig with ??
I found another room in the cellar that I hadn't seen. Lit the triangle.
ReplyDeleteeh .... POP of course, left of the cellar opening.
ReplyDeletelit the triangle okay, following ...
ReplyDeletePut the crystal and put the symbols. With the syringe I went down.
ReplyDeleteMagda, in desperate need of another pop-moment here..
ReplyDeleteWell the adventure continues...
ReplyDeleteMagda, one step back please?
ReplyDeleteSorry, I didn't refresh. The shovel was in the cellar.
ReplyDeleteTwo steps ?
ReplyDeleteYou dig and find a kind of coffin. I used the vitriol on the lock.
ReplyDeleteyes, yes, that was three steps back, I have been digging, found a rusty lock ...
ReplyDeleteAh, thank you ...
ReplyDeleteYou didn''t find the shovel?
ReplyDeleteI don't have vitriol at home.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I found a map of the stars and another letter.
Ahum : alacrity, epiphany, Raymundus Lully (a loooong Wikipedia page on him !!).
And those of you who, like me, don't know what a hoopoe looks like, here it is : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoopoe
The letter shows July 2nd. 1887.
ReplyDeleteOh dear. I walked back to the house and a scream came from the upper room .... hurry hurry !!!
LOL, I seriously startled at the opening window.
(Just for a second).
I went on the balcony and got a lens from the statue.
Back into the house, on the wheelchair are the ripped pages from the diary.
October 31st, 1891 ... describing a stormy night.
But for a moment so happy, the prof. is awake.
Oh, those sweet moments never last long ... Alexandre snoring breaks the serenity.
Magda, put the crystal and put the symbols .... uhm ...
ReplyDelete@jonthewatch
ReplyDeleteMy apologies. I took offense and over reacted. Won't happen again. Great game BTW ,it's a shame some folk don't get the beauty of these.
placing crystal, symbols .... I'm stuck ....
ReplyDeleteAfter gettin the symblos right open the desk take the syringe and follow the ladder down the hole. From there hand the syringe to Alex and don't forget to wait through the whole end and walk left till you can't anymore
ReplyDeletesymbols ... ?
ReplyDeletearrie look at the map and find the constellations that look the same in the telescope and note which stars on the map are larger. Those are the stars you need to hi lite then you take those symbols and put them in the desk
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeletethey look like a does not equal sign top left, a sort of u bottom middle, and a bent man top right
ReplyDeletethey correspond to the constellations on the map of the sky
ReplyDeleteArrie, there is another room to the left in the cellar and going right of that room there is another on. There is a telescope.
ReplyDelete@jonthewatch

Got to go meet a friend. hope i was able to help you arrie.
ReplyDeleteYou have to lit the stars as in the map and then you get the symbols for the desk on right of the telescope.
ReplyDeleteThere is the syringe that you take down. Alexandre injects you.
ReplyDeleteAhhhh THANK you both, I didn't find that third room, Going there now.
ReplyDeleteOK, after a long day's work..let's do this
ReplyDeleteSo, to complete it in style :
ReplyDeleteBack into the cellar, what's that noise ? I hesitate, then go forward.
(I seriously doubted my brain here ... my goodness.
That third room, sigh, endless search, it's left of the table with stuff on the far right.
Pffff ...)
lol Dazz, welcome.
ReplyDeleteAfter the whole experience the police comes searching.
They find a letter by mr Beechworth ....
Clap clap clap to Magda and Nuckelhedd. Hats off : how on earth you two found out how to use everything .....
ReplyDeleteOkay, on to the grocery-store now. Need some food for the weekend.
First: I really like these games.
ReplyDeleteSecond: HELP! I can't figure out how to set the clock downstairs. Where'd that clue go? :)
NotYou.
ReplyDeleteOn the desk in the library is an invoice.
It tells us that the clock is set at 18.15 h.
Unfortunately the cuckoo clock is tilted.
So if you change the clock downstairs run upstairs again to see what the time you got on that clock. That will tell you how to set the time on the clock downstairs to make the cuckoo-clock hit 18.15 h.
Do you understand ?
Ahhh, got it. Clue in library. Clock face turned...have to adjust clock downstairs so that the cuckoo clock upstairs does its thing.
ReplyDeleteNotYou.
ReplyDeleteI didn't understand what I just wrote myself, so here it comes again.
On the desk in the library is an invoice.
It tells us that the clock is set at 18.15 h.
Unfortunately the cuckoo clock is tilted.
So if you change the clock downstairs run upstairs again to see what time the cuckoo-clock shows. That will tell you how to set the time on the clock downstairs to make the cuckoo-clock hit 18.15 h.
This is better I think ... hope ...
Thanks arrie NL! I figured it out then saw your post. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd you just said it all in two sentences. right.

ReplyDeleteGreat game ! Anyway, I'm stuck : I've placed the bird into the clock, shown the photo to the man in the wheelchair... Now what ? I need a key for the cellar, a shovel to dig with...
ReplyDeleteyou need to adjust clock downstairs (put clock hand from Alexander) in order that (turned!) clock with bird shows quarter past six
ReplyDelete@AlphaOmega, thank you ! I didn't see the clock hand on the floor !
ReplyDeleteNow I've got the lens... but where is the telescope ?
ReplyDeleteSorry, I've just seen Magda's comment explaining where the telescope is.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteFinally found the telescope but I can't get the triangle or the symbols right. Help anyone?
ReplyDeleteput lense on, then you'll see symbols thru telescope - light stars acc. to map, i.e.
ReplyDeletebottom right star at top left sign (diagonal like)
bottom left star at top right sign (bowl like)
top right star at bottom middle sign (aeroplane like)
thanks Alpha Omega!
ReplyDeleteThe graphics are too awful to play, is it supposed to look like a bad commodore 64?
ReplyDeleteI love this series! Can't wait for the next one :D
ReplyDeleteandromeda: it reminds me of an early Leisure Suit Larry, without the leisure, the suit, or the Larry.
ReplyDeleteI liked graphics before everyone had to look like real people. It's about the game, not about some screaming giant monster guy or disproportionate women like I see in many of the ads leading up to games on this site.

ReplyDeleteIf it wasn't already obvious, DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME BEFORE GOING TO BED!
ReplyDeleteGreat game, like I was in 80's again :)
