Onamis - Confined Escape is another point and click room escape game developed by Onamis. In this escape game, you need to find the clues and solve the puzzles to escape this place you are locked in. Good luck and have fun! Play Confined Escape
Wow. This looks like a terrific game. I hope it is. Good luck brainiacs, i will be cheating madly off your hints. I very much like the way it is laid out. Cant wait to use your intelligence.
me too. I have tried clicking the yellow light after each move, and not clicking the light after each move. Maybe we need to know whether we go left or right for each letter.
I am totally looking forward to small-tool and Alpha and Austen coming in. Those fella's will be all....put the wingnuts on the conflapadiddly, turn twice, close your eyes say flimflam. Easy. lolol.
Hotzneplotz....i have been swinging the laptop lid back and forth, and......all i can say is............Congrats on having super excellent eyes. I can see most of those letters ..but what they mean is beyond me.
I thought, the letters could be the code for round door (A-Z). tilt the letter block to the right, so the O should be the the big key next to the 'unlock'key but no luck. (or I made a mistake)
Hi just1, bellily, sam1902, misred, evans, leed, and hotzenplotz. I am going to leave you to work your magic. Thanks for all your anticipated help. Good luck, and i truly hope this one is as fun and challenging as it looks.
I have followed the electrical conduits and the main door, does go to the lower panel (high voltage area). The "space" block on the 5x5 keypad has me thinking that there may need to be two words with unique letters in each, for the main door code.
I have noticed that the panel on the floor (SS1 door) will only turn so far in one direction. I have tried to spell Onamis, frontwards and backwards to no avail. There has to be a specific way to turn the handle without missing letters in Onamis. Tough one!!
@clio, you don't need brains, I'll give you a diploma, like in the Wizard of Oz. That's all you really need! So here:
This document certifies that clio_rose has graduated summa cum laude with flying honors from the eg24 School of Escaping, and is authorized to provide assistance to any and all escapers, in the form of brains, smiles, or other encouragement.
Also, here's a can of ZippyLube so you won't get stuck.
hahhaha..why thank you just1. Never heard of ZippyLube, but as its a Public Hol here tmrw, have relied on some BeeryLube, which hasnt helped my brain to work this one out. However, im happy. lol. Good luck mates. Im still trying but....slowly and ever so not-caring-much-aboutly. LOL.
The problem with Onamis games is that, although they are usually great, they often contain puzzles that are just way too far from I regard logical, that whenever I meet a puzzle I can't solve in a couple of minutes, I always supect that puzzle is just another of thos "WTF was he thinking?" ones. And that's when you resort to reading hints and walkthroughs and that's when a game stops to be real fun :(
eh honestdove? If you got it, i beg from the bottom of my not much caring about heart, but on behalf of everyone else...EH? (im lying, of course. I would like to know)
Tab works but there's nothing I haven't already clicked on. I've tried spelling everything I can think of on that keypad. Maybe I'll go play Onamis 1 through 7 to work my way up to this one.
No lol I just figured out the 5x5 grid- last long bar is not used due to it represents the letter 'z' 1st row is abcde... 2nd row fghij ... spell "unlock" 2nd room look challenging as well
bio, i would normally agree with you........but hey ho...a bit of beerlube seems to make the fun even funner...and funnier too, for that matter. hehehe.
yayyyyyyyyy. and thats quite enough thinking for me this evening. How dare i use my..ummmm ..your brains on a Sunday. hahhaha. I will catch up with you all tmrw. Night mates. Thanks honestdove and melody54.
i think i'm going to need a screenshot. trying to put the alphabet in, spell "unlock" and on and on, with the alphabet turned to make the space button the "o" and without. help!
The dial you can't move points the same place of the S in room 1. Could that be a clue? I've tried to move the dials as in the word Onamis, with the S in the stuck dial. Tried every turn with the other lower dial, but nothing.
me neither! like one of the pages, top line: symbol a = symbol a + symbol b + symbol b. you'd think symbol b would be zero, but it's greater than symbol ? (bottom line)
Strange. I opened the hatch to the second room, back in the first vernusya it didn't turn out. In other window of game I opened the hatch and I found the book. I can't get from the book anywhere. What is the matter????
I opened the hatch lvl 1R2 typing ONAMIS. I guess I solved the dials cause I heard a diff noise. Typing OPEN on 1R1 opened hatch to take me back to Lvl 1. But I cannot find the book. There's a dial you can switch numbers from 0 to 35, but don't know how it works.
OK- I'm in a dumb mood I guess- I'm trying to get out of the second stage solving the "alphabetical" positions of the 6 switches. Nothing is working for me. I'm assuming the fixed one is I, so then do I go clockwise around the room from there..(MNO etc,) anticlockwise or something else as it just doesn't seem to respond to me! I'm also assuming I need to set the 6 dials then push the door button
thanks so much for the video!! Nini, although your findings were great - you ought to have told whether the "alphabetic" thing referred to the dials on the wall or the one dial on the floor!!
With all the junk games getting posted here *applause*
we should be excited to get a game that truly requires the use of our grey matter!
The "we" can hardly stand for everybody. If one can't provide the latter, one would not want to have too many games of this type. :P And any attempt to explain these kinds of people that these games _are not_ for them is usually prone to arouse a fight...
It was so clear to me. only the language barrier disturbed. I and letters confused alphabetically on the hatch. And too I confused unblocking. In several windows, besides because of not knowledge of language I played) Normal game) Hi to stir of brains)
Now things are beginning to make sense to me ... (they just did not because the book pages are a little confusing)
1R1 ... 1R3
1R3 ... 1R1
are for orientation! For the dials, there are two groups of three in front of you and behind you, and this 1Rx stuff is to clearly define WHICH group you're looking at! (having either 1R1 or 1R3 to your right/left)
Hi hi :) I'm back just to say: @arby sorry if my explanation wasn't the best one.. >_< glad u got it and as for the 6 dials on the wall, the only thing I know is how each symbol corresponds to each dial and that's all.. VERY stuck on the equations ! I hope u can get it because I'm very close to giving up :( Maybe I'm overthinking it idk :S
Uh oh...there may be another variable. If you look at the rudimentary forward and back arrows at the bottom of the book pages and then look at page 6 (as per Hotzenplotz and Arby) you will see an order of those symbols starting in the upper right after the first "IR3", then proceeding to the next "IR1", continuing to the next "IR1", then finally "IR3" again. right left right left
If you click the power box that has 0-35 numbers on it, change to number other than 0, then zoom out. On the center of the yellow button, you can see one of the symbols that is on page six. Zoom back in and click to move to a different number, then zoom back out and you can see the symbol has rotated. Hope this isn't confusing to anyone.
Wow, MurkyMaster. Your eyes are unbelievable to pick that up. I have got no further and have only just realised that the third dial on the wall opposite is stuck. lol
Yes, great, but in what way does this bring us further in our "quest"? Knowing about the symbol on the glowing area does not help us at all at current stage...
The chance of me working out what the pattern and numbers in the book mean is zero, arby. I have been staring at it on and off all day, and its still as clear as mud to me. Sorry, but i wont be of any help to anyone.
arby, i kinda sorta cheated a little bit and watched part of a you-tube clip. I got as far the person taking the grate off to get the book, but before that....they had symbols on the four square lights down in there. I wonder if we were supposed to look there and write the shapes down, BEFORE we took the book grate off? (could be that i need to watch more), but wondered if yours had four symbols on them, or just the squares we can change to symbols.
The symbol on the 0-35 switch is only in its correct orientation (going by that infuriating book) at position '0'... and that's the only position in which the symbol doesn't glow....
I also restarted and investigated the trap door on the floor underneath the vent grill on the lower level. It doesn't wanna open......
Too right... I think this author simply does not know that putting the equality ( = ) sign means that both sides MUST be equal. It may not be used as a substitute for "transforms into" or "is assigned to".
@rozroz this is for forthcoming puzzles. I have peeked into the SWF and thus its images and sprites. These symbols are of no use now; they will be most important shortly after solving those $%#& dials.
@rozroz Well I can spoil it for you, but again: this is jumping the gun! Those numbers are of ABSOLUTELY NO USE right now. . . . http://oi60.tinypic.com/2d0nojm.jpg
Cycle lowermost one yourself - hitting the correct one will trigger an animation and cause the combination to morph, which is why I could not depict it.
OMG! maybe I figured out the pattern!! Take a look at the 1st equation and think of the symbol itself. When we add 2 symbols, let's take what's the same in them and subtract. Then what is different we add then we have another symbol entirely. BUT! If we add the same symbol again, every thing will return back to the 1st one.
I've only come back to provide tea and sandwiches. You are all awesome. I lack the wherewithal to continue. Your patience, your intelligence and your sheer determination, inspires but doesnt ignite my enthusiasm. Salmon/dill on the right; egg and lettuce in the centre; ham/hot english mustard on right. Tuppie tea is served, laydees n' gennelmen.
If you want to solve for lowercase variables (keeping uppercase as separate values)
abc
def c=15
a=A+C+C f=E+C+A b=C-A e=E+C c=C e<C
d is undefined
a=A+30 f=E+A+15 b=A+15 e=E+15 c=15 e<15
If dials can share the same values, this gives 42 possible answers with another 7 times that if the separate lower dial is also a factor, need more information to logically solve unless the equations themselves aren't meant to be solved but used as a diagram
If no dial can have the same value, then there are 3 possible answers and 21 if the lower dial is a factor. Still need more information unless brute force was the intent.
and what if the C symbol represents a cycle? Then if we add 1 cycle we'll end up in the same place. Now all the equations make a little more sense. (I'm probably wrong but ... who knows!)
@rozroz idk! a cycle is a cycle! Something that completes itself, resets and then start again and keep doing that. I just mean that maybe the value for the variable C is something like that. When we add this value, it won't change anything because the cycle is complete idk!
Use arby's: http://oi60.tinypic.com/2d0nojm.jpg, but the last symbol is incorrect. I just cycled through the options on the 4th symbol and those numbers appeared.
Now stuck (again!).
Btw, an asteroid flys close to Earth in an hour's time….
@ guest - i don't think so. it's either some logical numbers, or some "symbol" answer we don't get yet. don't think this guy wanna just let as brute force anything.
I agree, 8 open positions on the dials, and only 7 dials, we also don't know what the separate lower dial should be set at. So process of elimination wouldn't give us what d would be without guessing. We have to be missing a clue still.
Hi, yesterday I tried a theory with cycles and steps....
The numbers (05, 10, 15...) should be the number of steps we go clockwise. you need 7 steps to complete 1 cycle (don't count the position 0!!!).
starting on position 15 for symbol C C=15
E<C: so E is 5 or 10 for equation E=E+C: starting on position 15 for symbol C and add 5 or 10 steps. (DON'T COUNT POSITION 0) with 5 steps we are on position 5!!!! E=5
for first equation (A=A+C+C): we start on position C (15) we add 15 steps and 30 steps and we are on position 30!!!! A=30
for equation B=C-A: start o position A and subtract 15 steps, so we are on position 25 B=25
AND HERE MY THEORY HAS ITS END...
for second equation (F=E+C+A): starting on position A (30) add 15 steps and 5 stepps and we are also on position 25.
I wrote the equations into a program and solved them out to get only one answer that doesn't have repeated values for dials, a=35 b=10 c=15 d=unknown(20,25,or 30) e=0 f=5. Three possible positions for d with 7 positions for bottom button for each of those three. (If assuming the variables on the left of the equation are not the same as the right side of the equation).
Alright, got two options if neither of these work then the dials can share the same value and then there are a TON of options and we need more information: a=5 b=10 c=15 d=unknown(25,30,or 35) e=0 f=20 or a=10 b=5 c=15 d=unknown(10,30, or 35) e=0 f=25. All possibilities for bottom dial (if it matters at all).
Yeah I tried it too, well then you end up with 12 options (with 7 for d and another 7 for the bottom for each, for 588 total). I think we need more information.
Shot in the dark, but the cables on the bottom of the screen have 6 slots, and they change positions and number of cables plugged into them in the rooms and floors.
I think the unknown should be 30. When you put the dial on 30 and zoom out, you see the faint symbol in the middle, looking just like the unknown in the book.
but if you look carefully at the symbol on the knob, it doesn't look like any of the 6 symbols. yea maybe a bit like that 30, but not the same. it actually looks like kind of an "A"
rozroz, then maybe it is the same A as in the first puzzle on the floor, with the letters spelling onamis. That A is also pointing at 30. Or we should forget about those letters...
i don't know. really annoying. so why did he put these codes in the book? no i don't think it has something to do with the letters. and if so, why? what's the A has to do with 15? A was 30 wasn't it? hmmm....
Maybe has something to do with the letters on the wall that are jumbled? We never used those, maybe going from one letter to the next to spell out a word, or using T as the center and pointing to different letters? (could even be a 7 letter word, or the A on the dial gives us a reference point?)
Hi everyone! I am playing too and just solved the room with the dials. Now I can access level 1R3. In a few moments will try to explain it. Want to read the comments to see what thoughts you all have had.
No clue, unless the equations aren't equations (like they stand for something other than numbers) or they are for a different part of the game past this door? If we use the equations, they definitely have to have dials with the same values, but bc d isn't defined it must either be zero (as in you don't rotate it at all) or we are missing something. We have too many degrees of freedom, need one more variable or one more equation. (like a+b+c+d+e+f=35?)

ReplyDeleteWow. This looks like a terrific game. I hope it is. Good luck brainiacs, i will be cheating madly off your hints. I very much like the way it is laid out. Cant wait to use your intelligence.
ReplyDeleteme neither. am trying different ways of spelling out onamis on floor dial but no luck
ReplyDeleteI think, the trapdoor code could be the name of the game. but don't get it.
ReplyDeleteme too. I have tried clicking the yellow light after each move, and not clicking the light after each move. Maybe we need to know whether we go left or right for each letter.
ReplyDeletethere are some pale letters on side walls. really hard to see.
ReplyDeletedrats. Thought L R 1 and L R 2 might be it, but i cant go left enough times to get to the O.

ReplyDeleteLol, love it, clio_rose, I second that!

ReplyDeleteIf I can see it correctly the pale letters are:
ReplyDeleteUERKN
SIDWM
CBTQJ
ZYFLVO
GPAXH
Hotzneplotz....i have been swinging the laptop lid back and forth, and......all i can say is............Congrats on having super excellent eyes. I can see most of those letters ..but what they mean is beyond me.
ReplyDeleteyes: hotzneplotz, you have good eyes.
ReplyDeletethe only thing i notice is that it's a 5x5 letter grid and the door panel is a 5x5 button arrangement..
Onamis on the main door keypad is not it...
ReplyDeleteI thought, the letters could be the code for round door (A-Z). tilt the letter block to the right, so the O should be the the big key next to the 'unlock'key but no luck. (or I made a mistake)
ReplyDeleteis it somehow from A-Z?
ReplyDeletesurely the game doesn't want us to make out the wall letters without another step to produce lighting/definition for them..
ReplyDeleteHas all letters in the alphabet, but the 4th line messes up the 5x5 grid...
ReplyDeleteI tried voltage and danger but no luck
ReplyDeleteHi just1, bellily, sam1902, misred, evans, leed, and hotzenplotz. I am going to leave you to work your magic. Thanks for all your anticipated help. Good luck, and i truly hope this one is as fun and challenging as it looks.
ReplyDeleteLOL Clio...
ReplyDeleteAnagrams of minovs, sminov, svimon, vismon, can press by the word left and the right?
ReplyDelete... there's got to be a proper clue hidden somewhere in that cubicle... some other place to click.. argh!
ReplyDeleteI have followed the electrical conduits and the main door, does go to the lower panel (high voltage area). The "space" block on the 5x5 keypad has me thinking that there may need to be two words with unique letters in each, for the main door code.
ReplyDeleteOne line before last has 6 letters, not 5
ReplyDeletebut there are only 5 buttons, so I can't really make the word UNLOCK... hmm
me too Tania
ReplyDeleteI have noticed that the panel on the floor (SS1 door) will only turn so far in one direction. I have tried to spell Onamis, frontwards and backwards to no avail. There has to be a specific way to turn the handle without missing letters in Onamis. Tough one!!
ReplyDeletehey everyone!
ReplyDeleteto contribute something to the confusion: what about "connecting" the 3 levels?
like: SS1 1R1 1R2
@clio, you don't need brains, I'll give you a diploma, like in the Wizard of Oz. That's all you really need! So here:

Also, here's a can of ZippyLube so you won't get stuck.
lol! zippylube... i think we all need some of that right now
ReplyDeleteLeed, I tried that...no use...
ReplyDeletehmmm, there's a spacebar on the 5x5 grid button...maybe it represent something?
ReplyDelete@Hotzenplotz great hint- thank you- it was the alphabet for 'unlock' buttons on wall
ReplyDeletehahhaha..why thank you just1. Never heard of ZippyLube, but as its a Public Hol here tmrw, have relied on some BeeryLube, which hasnt helped my brain to work this one out. However, im happy. lol. Good luck mates. Im still trying but....slowly and ever so not-caring-much-aboutly. LOL.

ReplyDeleteGiving up, may return later to see what you puzzle "Brainiacs" find.
ReplyDeleteGood luck.
No lol I just figured out the 5x5 grid- last long bar is not used due to it represents the letter 'z'
ReplyDelete1st row is abcde... 2nd row fghij ... spell "unlock" 2nd room look challenging as well
The 5 x 5 grid. Just think of the alphabet.
ReplyDeleteTop row ABCDE etc. Spell UNLOCK
bio, i would normally agree with you........but hey ho...a bit of beerlube seems to make the fun even funner...and funnier too, for that matter. hehehe.
ReplyDeletethank you Honestdove and Melody
ReplyDeleteyayyyyyyyyy. and thats quite enough thinking for me this evening. How dare i use my..ummmm ..your brains on a Sunday. hahhaha. I will catch up with you all tmrw. Night mates. Thanks honestdove and melody54.
ReplyDeletespell OPEN for symbols puzzle
ReplyDeleteHow do you do that, @Nini? :)
ReplyDelete@nokra u have parts of letters. U need to click them all and make the word OPEN, start by clicking the 2 O parts.
ReplyDeleteOh, it makes more sense when zoomed! LOL I did it!
ReplyDeletegood find Nini!
ReplyDeletein second room, there is 1 dial, that can't be rotated.
6 dials probably related to ONAMIS? idk....
ReplyDeletebtw, on the big dial with the letters puzzle, u can click the yellow button
i think i'm going to need a screenshot. trying to put the alphabet in, spell "unlock" and on and on, with the alphabet turned to make the space button the "o" and without. help!

sweet Jesus, i got it..
ReplyDeleteOooops missed the N out but I'm sure you can work it out.
ReplyDelete@Belilly, don't use the letters on the wall, but make your own grid w/ the letters in order
ReplyDeleteWhat about the numbers dial at bottom?
ReplyDeleteThe dial you can't move points the same place of the S in room 1. Could that be a clue? I've tried to move the dials as in the word Onamis, with the S in the stuck dial. Tried every turn with the other lower dial, but nothing.
ReplyDeleteHah! I opened the hatch. U don't need to spell ONAMIS, just go in alphabet order
ReplyDeleteI meen that the dial is stuck on the I position.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant Nini
ReplyDeleteGot a book with the hint fot the 6 dials. We'll probably need some math
ReplyDeleteman, that book is intimidating and the numbers-to-symbols ain't gonna be easy..
ReplyDeleteThe grating has fallen on what looks like another hatch but I can't move it....
ReplyDeleteI hope that book means more to you that it does to me Nini.
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteGood find Nini xD!
ReplyDeleteI am not so stupid after all. I did say early on that I was trying to spell UNLOCK... :) But I give up, it is too complicated for my old brain.
ReplyDeleteIt's all too much for my tiny brain. I think I quit.
ReplyDeletenoo don't leave me! :P
ReplyDeletei want to leave too... nini, are you making sense of the book hints? i am not. : (
ReplyDelete@Bellily I'm trying.. but no luck so far.. the equations don't make sense to me.
ReplyDeleteI'm still here, and trying to find any sense in book pages 6-8. I think, this should be the hint for 6 dials in second room...
ReplyDeleteOk maybe I'm dumb.. I can't open the hatch still..?
ReplyDeleteme neither! like one of the pages, top line: symbol a = symbol a + symbol b + symbol b. you'd think symbol b would be zero, but it's greater than symbol ? (bottom line)
ReplyDelete...Ok got it, I thought the A was a V... until I realized why everyone was trying to spell onamis lol
ReplyDeleteStrange. I opened the hatch to the second room, back in the first vernusya it didn't turn out. In other window of game I opened the hatch and I found the book. I can't get from the book anywhere. What is the matter????
ReplyDeletewe have 6 dials but 8 possible values. Maybe some dials represent more than 1 value? Like the 1st one can be 5 or 35? idk..
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteNafanja, on bottom of your screen, there is a Book-key, press ist to open and close the book
ReplyDeleteon page 6 you can see
ReplyDelete1R1 symbol A B C 1R3
1R3 symbol D E F 1R1
symbol C should be the dial, which you can't rotate (on position 15)
on page 8 you can see: symbol E<C and E=E+C ??!!??
and on page 6 of the book - the bottom left symbol isn't in the key (pg 8 i think) at all...
ReplyDelete@Hotzenplotz yeah.. the equations don't make sense... maybe we don't need math after all?!
ReplyDeleteMaybe they represent number of clicks to turn the dial..? So the first equation would be 0 (position) = 0+4+4?
ReplyDelete@fdbbd2 good thinking! Let's try that xD
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeletethe last 3 equations on page 8 make sense, if:
ReplyDeleteposition0=1, position5=2, position10=3....
so symbol C is 8 and symbol F is 1
Not my kind of game. Good luck to all.
ReplyDeleteiam not EINSTEIN :P
ReplyDeleteWhat about the 4 square buttons for C3. another unsolved miracle ? the book is the horror itself...
ReplyDeleteWow!
ReplyDeletePeople giving an Onamis game low ratings
because it's too tough for them?
With all the junk games getting posted here, we
should be excited to get a game that truly requires
the use of our grey matter!
But, I guess, so many "junk" games have turned
a lot of good brain cells to putty!
Mine included, but I give 5 stars BECAUSE the game
is a "rare", and "good" CHALLENGE!
Cheers!
you can spell open to get back to level one on keypad
ReplyDeleteI can't seem to open the OPEN latch, is there an order? like the left side of the letter first or something? (N has 3 parts though)
ReplyDeletePOP, been trying for 10min and it finally worked, can't help you Unknown has I have no idea what i did differently
ReplyDeleteI opened the hatch lvl 1R2 typing ONAMIS. I guess I solved the dials cause I heard a diff noise. Typing OPEN on 1R1 opened hatch to take me back to Lvl 1. But I cannot find the book. There's a dial you can switch numbers from 0 to 35, but don't know how it works.

ReplyDeletethanks so much for the video!! Nini, although your findings were great - you ought to have told whether the "alphabetic" thing referred to the dials on the wall or the one dial on the floor!!
ReplyDeleteI too tried around like enzed (even upside-down)

I hope u can get it because I'm very close to giving up :(
Maybe I'm overthinking it idk :S
Uh oh...there may be another variable. If you look at the rudimentary forward and back arrows at the bottom of the book pages and then look at page 6 (as per Hotzenplotz and Arby) you will see an order of those symbols starting in the upper right after the first "IR3", then proceeding to the next "IR1", continuing to the next "IR1", then finally "IR3" again.

It may be nothing, but it may help as well.
Sounds plausible, Citizen...
ReplyDeleteAll right, but the "equation" stuff is still a mystery to me ...
Repeating what Hotzenplotz said...
the last 3 equations on page 8 make sense, if:
position0=1, position5=2, position10=3....
so symbol C is 8 and symbol F is 1
Does anyone have a clue what he was on about here??
Cracked the 4-symbol code downstairs...(got bored :p)
ReplyDeleteResult is four 2-digit numbers which, tadaa, do not match with any of the numbers in the 4x4 "matrixes" in the book.

ReplyDeleteOMG, now I see!!
ReplyDeleteMurky indeed means the glowing center area of the big dial!! It's very hard to see, but there IS a symbol on it! (Great find!)
Consider that you can zoom out TWO times. You need to have the isometric view on the bottom dial, then you will see the symbol.
Dang, I thought each dial position would point to a DIFFERENT symbol. But that's not the case: it's always one and the same symbol, just rotated.
ReplyDeleteNone the wiser...
Wow, MurkyMaster. Your eyes are unbelievable to pick that up. I have got no further and have only just realised that the third dial on the wall opposite is stuck. lol
ReplyDeleteYes, great, but in what way does this bring us further in our "quest"?
ReplyDeleteKnowing about the symbol on the glowing area does not help us at all at current stage...
The chance of me working out what the pattern and numbers in the book mean is zero, arby. I have been staring at it on and off all day, and its still as clear as mud to me. Sorry, but i wont be of any help to anyone.
ReplyDelete@clio_rose what I wrote last was mainly pointed to Murky's most "spectacular" findings...
ReplyDeletearby, i kinda sorta cheated a little bit and watched part of a you-tube clip.
ReplyDeleteThe symbol on the 0-35 switch is only in its correct orientation (going by that infuriating book) at position '0'... and that's the only position in which the symbol doesn't glow....
ReplyDeleteI also restarted and investigated the trap door on the floor underneath the vent grill on the lower level. It doesn't wanna open......
Okay...
ReplyDelete------Lvl3------
C D
B E
A F
-----Lvl1-------
*Switch C is locked at position 15. We'll assume that's 'cos that's where it's meant to be....
*Judging by the orientation of the symbol E according to the 0-35 thingy, E should be at 0 position (North...)
If this follows through... and I'm not sure about anything at the moment... then :
A=A+C+C
F=E+C+A
B=C+A
E=E+C
C=C
E<C
... and the only one that makes sense at the moment is that C=C.
It's the "equal" sign that is bugging me...
ReplyDelete"equal" means left is equal to right side. And that stuff above looks so doggone un-mathematical to me...
I have NEVER pondered an Escape Room puzzle this long without advancement!! Aaaarrrgh!
ReplyDeleteThe "how to play" says that we need to "observe the decoration" LOL at least we got Murky on that ;)
ReplyDeleteHere's what I tried to do with the symbols for C3 puzzle:
ReplyDeletehttp://i.imgur.com/bUa4QBv.png?1
no idea if it'll help or if I'm on the right track at all :P
hey Nini.. seems we are the only 2 here..
ReplyDeleteabout the book codes:
if the locked dial is 15 with the occording symbol,
after the 2nd equation, it gets totally illogical indeed..
what do we miss?
and how come equation 5 is the same symbol = symbol?
ReplyDeleteand are the equations written in "reverse"?
scratch that.. even the 1st equation doesn't make sense.
ReplyDeletelol rozroz I've tried all sort of ideas and still nothing... I bet it's much more simple than what we're thinking..
ReplyDeleteand about the C3 code, maybe this?
http://i.imgur.com/3eg64BC.png
ok I'm getting nowhere >_<
even the 1st equation doesn't make sense
ReplyDeleteToo right...
I think this author simply does not know that putting the equality ( = ) sign means that both sides MUST be equal. It may not be used as a substitute for "transforms into" or "is assigned to".
at first i was definite about giving it 5 stars due to the effort,
ReplyDeletebut now... LOL just kidding still 5 stars. or maybe 4? ;)
and about the C3 code, maybe this?
ReplyDeletehttp://i.imgur.com/3eg64BC.png
yea, Nini, i thought it might be something like that, but still mucho confusing.
and why the hell we got 6 MORE pages of numbers with DIFFERENT symbols???
ReplyDelete@rozroz this is for forthcoming puzzles. I have peeked into the SWF and thus its images and sprites. These symbols are of no use now; they will be most important shortly after solving those $%#& dials.
ReplyDeleteok, arby, thanks.
ReplyDeletemayve we first need to open that 4 code box?
i think the book "implies" that the 4 digit C3 code is same as the pad lock with the "open" symbols?
ReplyDelete@arby no need to check the SWF. On the book page 19 u can see a scene where those other symbols will probably be useful
ReplyDelete@rozroz
ReplyDeleteWell I can spoil it for you, but again: this is jumping the gun! Those numbers are of ABSOLUTELY NO USE right now.

Cycle lowermost one yourself - hitting the correct one will trigger an animation and cause the combination to morph, which is why I could not depict it.
@arby -
ReplyDeleteno no, i wanna solve it myself ;)
still trying that 6 dials puzzle. cannot think of anything besides that
15 lock. WHY would he put on = ??
OMG! maybe I figured out the pattern!!
ReplyDeleteTake a look at the 1st equation and think of the symbol itself.
When we add 2 symbols, let's take what's the same in them and subtract. Then what is different we add then we have another symbol entirely. BUT! If we add the same symbol again, every thing will return back to the 1st one.
I hope u can understand lol!
so i'm doing this atm (you probably have done that already):
ReplyDeleteA=A+15+15
C=B+15+A
D=15-A
B=B+15
15=15
B<15
?????????
Meh.. that won't work for the other ones... NVM xD
ReplyDelete@Nini -
ReplyDeletewell try that and see if it works..
still looks confusing from what you describe..
ReplyDeleteHere's what I thought that could be possible> (example for equation 1)
ReplyDeletehttp://i.imgur.com/lSGDNt2.png
but I guess it won't work for the rest
No clio! My brain works best when I'm hungry :P but ty xD
ReplyDeletedamnit!!!! tried something almost logical with the numbers.
ReplyDelete(tried not to pay attention the the = symbol and just added or subtracted numbers)
the 1st unknown symbol in the equation MUST be 5.. no???
ReplyDeletethe sum cannot be more than 35, no??
If you want to solve for lowercase variables (keeping uppercase as separate values)
ReplyDeleteabc
def
c=15
a=A+C+C
f=E+C+A
b=C-A
e=E+C
c=C
e<C
d is undefined
a=A+30
f=E+A+15
b=A+15
e=E+15
c=15
e<15
If dials can share the same values, this gives 42 possible answers with another 7 times that if the separate lower dial is also a factor, need more information to logically solve unless the equations themselves aren't meant to be solved but used as a diagram
If no dial can have the same value, then there are 3 possible answers and 21 if the lower dial is a factor. Still need more information unless brute force was the intent.
and what if the C symbol represents a cycle? Then if we add 1 cycle we'll end up in the same place. Now all the equations make a little more sense. (I'm probably wrong but ... who knows!)
ReplyDelete@Nini - what do you mean a cycle????
ReplyDeleteexplain!
Cracked the 4 digit C3 code and got 4 numbers back… spoiler
ReplyDelete.
.
.
.
.
.
32,43, 55, 68.
Now what?!
wait.. how did you crack it??
ReplyDelete@rozroz idk! a cycle is a cycle! Something that completes itself, resets and then start again and keep doing that.
ReplyDeleteI just mean that maybe the value for the variable C is something like that. When we add this value, it won't change anything because the cycle is complete idk!
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeletealso cracked the C 3 code by chance.
ReplyDeletethe four numbers are of course not making any sense atm.
oh cmon really??! we're bfing now?!
ReplyDeleteUse arby's: http://oi60.tinypic.com/2d0nojm.jpg, but the last symbol is incorrect. I just cycled through the options on the 4th symbol and those numbers appeared.
ReplyDeleteNow stuck (again!).
Btw, an asteroid flys close to Earth in an hour's time….
so -
ReplyDeletethe 1st hidden number in the 1st equation suppose to be 5? (if each equation sums up to 35 max...)
Variable d isn't used in any of the equations. Are we expected to guess (brute force) it?
ReplyDelete@ guest -
ReplyDeletei don't think so. it's either some logical numbers, or some "symbol" answer we don't get yet. don't think this guy wanna just let as brute force anything.
Guess maybe we're supposed to narrow down the options and assign the value for D with what's left of our suppositions.
ReplyDeleteI agree, 8 open positions on the dials, and only 7 dials, we also don't know what the separate lower dial should be set at. So process of elimination wouldn't give us what d would be without guessing. We have to be missing a clue still.
ReplyDeletei will hate it if it will be something really stupid.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteHi, yesterday I tried a theory with cycles and steps....
The numbers (05, 10, 15...) should be the number of steps we go clockwise. you need 7 steps to complete 1 cycle (don't count the position 0!!!).
starting on position 15 for symbol C
C=15
E<C: so E is 5 or 10
for equation E=E+C: starting on position 15 for symbol C and add 5 or 10 steps.
(DON'T COUNT POSITION 0) with 5 steps we are on position 5!!!!
E=5
for first equation (A=A+C+C): we start on position C (15) we add 15 steps and 30 steps and we are on position 30!!!!
A=30
for equation B=C-A: start o position A and subtract 15 steps, so we are on position 25
B=25
AND HERE MY THEORY HAS ITS END...
for second equation (F=E+C+A): starting on position A (30) add 15 steps and 5 stepps and we are also on position 25.
come on people!!
ReplyDeletesome fresh ideas!
ReplyDelete@Guest just finished trying all combos for ur solutions and none of them worked :S
ReplyDeletelol thanks. Well then they aren't separate variables, time for a new program.
ReplyDeletethis game-guy is trolling us hard :(
ReplyDeleteAlright, got two options if neither of these work then the dials can share the same value and then there are a TON of options and we need more information:
ReplyDeletea=5 b=10 c=15 d=unknown(25,30,or 35) e=0 f=20 or
a=10 b=5 c=15 d=unknown(10,30, or 35) e=0 f=25. All possibilities for bottom dial (if it matters at all).
(Also assuming the recursive functions didn't break somewhere in the calcs. :/ )
ReplyDeletea=5 b=10 c=15 d=unknown(25,30,or 35) e=0 f=20
ReplyDeletethat's what i did the first time. no go.
tested out the second option. no go!
ReplyDeleteYeah I tried it too, well then you end up with 12 options (with 7 for d and another 7 for the bottom for each, for 588 total). I think we need more information.
ReplyDeleteOr we're on the wrong track...
ReplyDeletewe seem to be on a very wrong track indeed ;)
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
ReplyDeleteas Nini said, we may need to look at this from a more symbolic "tricky" angle
ReplyDeleteThis game has to be in category of puzzles, but not in flash games))
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of "angles".. I've tried that b4 so don't waste ur time :P
ReplyDeletemaybe it has something to do with the first ONAMIS hatchet with the letters? (probably not)
ReplyDelete@rozroz maybe.......... since O is 15.. but idk where we can go from there.
ReplyDeletebut it's the I that was in the 15 mark :(
ReplyDeleteShot in the dark, but the cables on the bottom of the screen have 6 slots, and they change positions and number of cables plugged into them in the rooms and floors.
ReplyDeletehey guys -
ReplyDeleteMAYBE the sign on the dial knob does point us to something?
let's say, you put the dial on 15 and the sign is pointing to another number, let's say - 5
well you can go on form there...
come on guys! it's killing me i gotta crack this!
ReplyDeleteI think the unknown should be 30. When you put the dial on 30 and zoom out, you see the faint symbol in the middle, looking just like the unknown in the book.
ReplyDeletebut if you look carefully at the symbol on the knob,
ReplyDeleteit doesn't look like any of the 6 symbols.
yea maybe a bit like that 30, but not the same.
it actually looks like kind of an "A"
rozroz, then maybe it is the same A as in the first puzzle on the floor, with the letters spelling onamis. That A is also pointing at 30. Or we should forget about those letters...
ReplyDeletei don't know. really annoying.
ReplyDeleteso why did he put these codes in the book?
no i don't think it has something to do with the letters.
and if so, why?
what's the A has to do with 15? A was 30 wasn't it?
hmmm....
maybe it's easier that we think?
ReplyDeletemaybe just 5, 10, 15.... accordingly?
no.
ok, so i'm still with the A symbol, when pointing at 15, the mark is 2 clicks backwards, so it's 5.
ReplyDeleteso if we have 5+5 etc..
maybe someone can help me develop this?
ok let me know when you're serious guys,
ReplyDeletecan't do this by myself.
Maybe has something to do with the letters on the wall that are jumbled? We never used those, maybe going from one letter to the next to spell out a word, or using T as the center and pointing to different letters? (could even be a 7 letter word, or the A on the dial gives us a reference point?)
ReplyDeleteso why why we have the symbols at all?
ReplyDeleteThe C dial points to O on the jumbled letters on the wall...that would give us O and A.
ReplyDeleteSupposing we have a different value for each letter and values cannot be higher than 35 and C=15:
ReplyDelete"A" can only be 0 or 5 (because A=A+30)
If A=0:
B= C - A => B=15, so B=C (wrong)
if A=5:
E E=0+15 => E=15, so E=C (wrong)
If E=10
E=E+C => E=10+15 => E=25
F=E+C+A => F= 25+15+5 = 45 (wrong)
So we can state that there are same values for different letters.
So, the only value we can assign to A is 0.
A=0
B=15
C=15
D=?
E=15(if E=0) or 20(if E=5) or 25(if E=10)
F=35
Tried this theory without avail.
Maybe C is not 15.
Hi everyone! I am playing too and just solved the room with the dials. Now I can access level 1R3. In a few moments will try to explain it. Want to read the comments to see what thoughts you all have had.
ReplyDeleteNo clue, unless the equations aren't equations (like they stand for something other than numbers) or they are for a different part of the game past this door? If we use the equations, they definitely have to have dials with the same values, but bc d isn't defined it must either be zero (as in you don't rotate it at all) or we are missing something. We have too many degrees of freedom, need one more variable or one more equation. (like a+b+c+d+e+f=35?)
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDelete@ edgar - what???????
ReplyDeletegive us a smart hint NOW
I am borrowing the comment from @Guest, which is the clearest possible I could find to explain myself, a couple of little things corrected:
ReplyDeleteIf you want to solve for lowercase variables (keeping uppercase as separate values)
abc
def
c=15
a=A+C+C
f=E+C+A
b=C-A
e=E+C
c=C
E<C
d is undefined
a=A+30
f=E+A+15
b=15 - A
e=E+15
c=15
E<15
I'm back and wow!
ReplyDeleteSomeone actually solved it nice! We were on the right track after all.
