  5. Some hints (up until that awful ending puzzle):

There are three pieces of paper you have to arrange with the water glass to get the 3 symbols for the drawer. However, after they dunk and show the symbols, you have to click on each piece of paper to put it in your inventory, then click on them to put them in the right order. THEN you can open the drawer. Ugh.

There are 5 coins. You assemble them and then (for some reason) put the box over them. This gives you a clue for which blue buttons to click on that are on the drawer in the far right room.

  13. Been trying to catch up on older games that I have missed. Just a few notes:

    - One of the pieces of paper is hiding in the ceiling fan.

    - The "lights out" puzzle is simpler than I suspect some folks were making it for themselves. It helps, though, to understand the general approach to this type of puzzle.

The main mistake folks make when they are new to the puzzle is to click on a square they wish to toggle. The problem is that this, of course, affects the four neighboring squares as well. The player often finds themselves chasing a never ending goal, simply because they are unintentionally moving the goal post. Quite often, frustration sets in and players make random moves; and when a player happens upon the solution by chance, they dismiss the game before giving themselves a chance to learn the underlying logic.

The ideal strategy only involves two passes to resolve the board. The first pass focuses on clearing all but the last row. If there are still lit squares in the last row, then a second pass will resolve them precisely.

(NOTE: Assuming the puzzle in this game does not start with a randomized layout, then it can be solved in a single pass. If it is random, then I guess I was lucky that I only needed the one when I played it.)

First pass: Examine the first row and note which squares need to be turned off. Instead of clicking on the squares themselves, click on the corresponding squares directly underneath. By doing this, you can affect specific squares in the first row without disturbing the rest of the row. Once the first row is clear, move to the second and clear it by clicking squares in the third row. Repeat this process for all rows, which will leave you with only the last row potentially containing lit squares.

Second pass: To resolve any lights on the last row, it is necessary to press one or more of the squares in the first row. Since this will inevitably turn on lights, you then repeat the same process from the first pass, clearing each row one at a time working down to the last row. Provided you press the correct squares in the first row, the last row will end up cleared.

Which squares to press, you ask? That is not as succinctly explained. Basically, pressing any one square in the first row will, after chasing the lights down the puzzle, affect one or more of the lights in the final row. The precise association is unique to the size of the "lights out" puzzle. That is, the upper-left square of a 5x5 will impact the last row differently than how the upper-left square of an 8x8 would. But, once you know how each square in the first row changes the last row, you can always precisely determine which of the squares need to be pressed in the first row to resolve the last row. You can try to memorize the associations or simply jot down a little cheat sheet as a guide. Of course, trial-and-error is a valid option as well, however you will end up needing to do more passes until you get the correct combination of buttons in the first row.

Whew... I hope my impromptu novella helps folks. (:
