  1. Please could someone explain what 'subtract the next count' means?

    1. Made no sense to me either.
      Here's spoiler:
      Look at this series: 12, 10, 17, 47, 183 ,?
      What number should come next?
      Answer : 909
      Explanation :
      12 * 1 - 2 = 10
      10 * 2 - 3 = 17
      17 * 3 - 4 = 47
      47 * 4 - 5 = 183
      183 * 5 - 6 = 909.
I think this is 8B's all time most obscure math puzzle!

    2. Thank you Wenmomojo - looks simple now you've explained it, but I really struggled because the wording of the hint was so utterly opaque!

  2. Thanks Wenmomojo your explanation made since. Their clue was pathetic and I couldn't wrap my head around it either.

  3. I wish they would do away with the math puzzles. They end up being either trivially easy, or disturbingly difficult. (And I'm an engineer, so I think I have a better than passing understanding of math). At least recently they have been able to avoid the problems that have 3 different possible valid solutions. Those just made me mad. :)

  4. Math wasn't impossible, but seemed too obscure and I had no patience to find the solution, so I checked the hint, and that made it even more obscure. "Multiply by the next number" -- what next number? "... then subtract the next count" -- what next count? I thought I didn't understand because of my poor English, but seems more like a poor hint. Spoiler was needed.

Anyway, I don't agree with TiCKed, no need to abandon the math puzzles for good. I like them, sometimes they are enjoyable, not too easy, not too confusing. Maybe it will be a good idea to add the skip button instead?
