raasti,
ReplyDeleteYou are on the right track now, and almost there. :)
1. Now divide. Then convert back.
2. Yes, what letter does it sound like?
3. Not quite. E is the 5th. D is the 4th. If you subtract....
4. Yes. :)

ReplyDeletenearly raasti change your first answer back to a roman numeral
ReplyDeleteok thankyou to all for the help ...
ReplyDeletegood bye ...
Good job and good night raasti. :)
ReplyDeleteWe'll see you later.
Ran out of ideas for level 18 :(
ReplyDeletewell i found another name for moriary that is four words but not sure how that can help
ReplyDeleteYou don't need four words...you need to use the first four words to get one word.
ReplyDeleteWhy Moriarty, bigtank?
ReplyDeleteIf you used a different name it would be ...
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm done for today.
ReplyDeleteBye, bye guys :)
Bye, s-t
ReplyDeleteItt, I think I know the word,(5 letters) but when I convert it to numbers it doesn't work
ReplyDeleteI'm back for a little while. Don't get much from the clues. Looking for 4 words..
ReplyDeleteI guess bigtank thought of Moriarty following the line "I assume the name" and then another name for him "but not as"
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what to do with that though
Hi al sal, the 4 words give one word, 5 letters I think, look for a synonym, when you complete the line it gives a 3 letter word
ReplyDeleteIt could also be the name of the ship (either of them)
ReplyDeleteIf you have the correct 5 letter word you should now be able to do the next part to it.
ReplyDeleteWe tried that, but look at Itt's posts above
ReplyDeleteThanks Itt, I did that and have a 3 letter word, but don't understand the last line
ReplyDeleteThe first 4 words meaning "if you seek what is"??
ReplyDeleteNo, al sal, the third line
ReplyDeleteOnce you have the first line done correctly, the second line should come a little easier. ;) From there, it goes a LOT easier.
ReplyDeleteIt's not guess...
ReplyDeleteNot my word, google the 2nd and 4th words and see what you get
ReplyDeleteO.K. got it
ReplyDeleteI have been stuck with chapter 12 all day. Binary is way over my head and don't say it's easy as 123! I love trying these puzzles, but I flunked math. Think I'll go play Halo for awhile, NO numbers!!LOL
ReplyDelete@mugglehead use this site http://home.paulschou.net/tools/xlate/
ReplyDeletemugglehead, try this site.
ReplyDeletehttp://home.paulschou.net/tools/xlate/
Use each star point separately, 4 digits, all ones or zeros
Lol, al sal. I can complete the rest of the line with my word and the first of the last line, but not sure what to do after that. Did you read Itt's reply?
ReplyDeletethank you @al sal!!! that one worked!!!
ReplyDeleteWell Donas I got the 3-letter word out of the 5-letter word but don't know what to do next.
ReplyDeleteI tried changing the two first letters with the ones that are two positions before in the alphabet (like in ciphers)which gave me a roman numeral, then I converted it to binary and was very happy cause I got an 8-digit number but... it was wrong!
Itt, I'm still not getting your hint, more help please.
ReplyDeleteNow I really have to go to sleep, will be up in less than 5 hours...
ReplyDeleteDonas leave good hints!
Good luck everybody..
If you have the 3 letter word, leave it alone.
ReplyDeleteThe last line makes a word that goes with it.
"The first two" are VERY elementary. I've actually given a hint earlier ;)
Doo dee dum, dum dee dum....
Once you have both words, how would you get in?
*walks away humming*
Thanks, Itt, I think I've made progress. My second word sounds like a farm animal. Combined it makes me think of a traditional magic word. But the answer eludes me. Do we change it to numbers?
ReplyDeleteThat's what I have too, Donas. No idea how to change that into numbers though. Tried following the letters of the magic word(s) on the door which gives some digits but they don't work
ReplyDeleteNevermind, I got it. Thanks, Itt.
ReplyDeletefinally got it
ReplyDeleteGreat katti, I'm clueless about 19
ReplyDeletesame here. I had a closer look at the pic but I don't see anything that stands out. I don't see any clue at all lol
ReplyDeleteThis level is actually VERY easy. I know that all of you are WAY over-thinking this one. ;)
ReplyDeleteIt actually is very similar to another level.
Looked for capitals, wore granmaa out, but nothing yet
ReplyDeleteIt's all in the riddle Holmes gives to Watson at the end.
ReplyDeleteThanks Itt, got it, on to 20!
ReplyDeleteTold you it was easy :) ... just not very obvious. LOL
ReplyDeleteLol, Itt
ReplyDeleteItt, you've been such a big help to me through this riddle, I don't see any reason to change things now, lol. How about a hint to get started on 20?
ReplyDeleteI have made it to chap.14 and I think that will be all. That is the furthest I have ever done on one of these!!! I am quite proud to have got this far. Thanks everyone for the help!!!
ReplyDeleteHi everyone
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the hints so far. I'm stuck on 14
I've read all the hints given here, but i'm still lost
I read someone say it was not to use the external part of the pentagram
So I don't know what to take four from. Besides, I don't know wich four to get rid of.
Any more hints?
great job, mugglehead
ReplyDeleteDonas,
ReplyDeleteHave you kept track of everywhere you've been?
Mugglehead,
Ahh...don't give up! Nothing says that one of these has to be finished all at once. Give it a rest, and look again. :) Regardless, hope you enjoyed it so far. :)
Hi Morgana, take the same words as before and pick four letters to remove until you get a word
ReplyDeleteItt, I think so, do you mean locations like London or places like the mine?
ReplyDelete@Donas, do you mean the gibberish "word" from the level before?
ReplyDeleteIf so, how do I know wich letters to remove?
And even if I remove four letters it will still be a word bigger than 6 letters
Morgana, when you solved the pentagram the 1st time, you got 2 words that were the answer to level 12, use those same 2 words and remove 4 letters from one of them, then granmaa. Remember Itt's hint: you don't need consonants.
ReplyDeleteOMG. I Finally got it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Donas from helping me, otherwise i would be stuck forever on that level
Great Morgana. Well, it's late here, so I'm off to bed. I'll finish tomorrow. Thanks for all the help, Itt! Good luck everyone.
ReplyDeleteHi Everybody,
ReplyDeleteOn 17..I know what I am supposed to do. I know what the word is. I know where to get extra letters. But no word I make...makes sense. Where am I goofing up? Please!!
Stuck on 18. I have the 3 letter word and the farm animal word to make the name. Stuck how to get from the name to numbers. Please help.
ReplyDelete@BJRed take the word from before, add letters, then mix it up. You should get a word meaning to prohibit.
ReplyDeleteI'm stuck on 17 now as well.
ReplyDeleteI used the answer from the previous level and added two letters from what's written in the padlock.
But then i got a seven letter word, not a nine one.
What other letters should I add?
Morning all
ReplyDeleteStill stuck on 17 as well
Have tried any number of combinations of letters, including using Ted as an abbreviation of Edward but still getting nowhere
Got 17
ReplyDeleteThe first of the maze clues is actually in the first paragraph of the text. look at the words on the lock and add what old Eddy's monogrammed towels would have on them.
Think lawyers :)
Still stuck on level 18 :(
ReplyDeleteI know the name now and how that opens doors in general, but no idea how to make that the 8 digits.
Lol, the quickest POP I ever had. Got it now. Just count (amount of) letters.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteHm. stuck on level 20.
ReplyDeleteLooked at all the pervious levels (the answers and the urls), but found nothing :(
For level 20 I'm pretty sure the keywords are high (url?), prime, pieces of eight, to the ends), but picking letters from level 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17 and 19 gives me nothing :(
ReplyDeleteI have found 2 words for chapter 12, but none of them is the answer. Quite desperating... I have googled St P. + these 2 words, nada.
ReplyDeletePascale,
ReplyDeleteFor level 12 the answer is 2 words!
two 5-letter words.
Pfew Finally finished.
ReplyDeleteI had the right keywords for level 20.
But made a mistake the first time I tried.
Stuck at 13, has gone to the map, but how to pick letters from here, does the gibberish above the pic have any significance?
ReplyDeleteHi Faltu, start with the same letter as before, the 2nd line tells you where you should end up, the 3rd line tells you the path. Be sure to look on both sides of the path. Still stuck on 20.
ReplyDeletefaltu
ReplyDeletein the mine, go to where the clue in 13 tells you to go (a compass heading) and pick up letters along the route.
Never saw any reason for the gibberish at the top of the hanged man
okay going to have a bash at 18 now - from the comments above, this is a difficult one.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the helps.. Donas and RSA, this is why I love EG24.. got it.
ReplyDeleteDonas,
ReplyDeleteFor level 20 look at my post from 1/9/12 3:32 AM
I think everything is there.
In fact I'm afraid I gave away too much.
If so, then please tell me so @Itt and I will delete it.
I think I got the last part of 18 but am not getting anywhere with the first part
ReplyDelete"If ye seek what is inside
Answer me this"
It can't be the 'inside' of the anagram for to answer - can it?
Hi small-tool, not too much for me. I have the same ideas about keywords, but not sure how to apply them.
ReplyDeleteag sorry
ReplyDeletemeant 'it can't be the 'inside' of the SYNONYM -
Hi Momma, ignore those 2 lines, start with the 1st 4 words of the next line and find a 5 letter word
ReplyDeleteHi Donas,
ReplyDeleteGot that word. Then took out two letters to get a little word. Now looking for the next part
Sounds right, Momma, now do the next line, and put them together
ReplyDeleteThank you, Small-Tool ! I think that the game would be nicer if we knew how many words there are in the answer.
ReplyDeleteThanks Donas
ReplyDeleteDoes it relate to chapter 16?
RSA Momma Cyndi,
ReplyDeleteLevel 18 doesn't relate to level 16.
Just do what the last line tells you. Think alphabet.
Momma, no, the 2 words put together should give you an idea, then look at the door puzzle
ReplyDeleteLOL
ReplyDeleteThanks.
Maybe my first word is wrong then as it the 'first two' don't really add any value to that word
Momma, did you do the last two words to "the first two"?
ReplyDeleteAM thinking I did but maybe I didn't get the right words twice back
ReplyDeletethe right words twice back are not really words.
ReplyDeleteIt's the second part of the name of a fairy tale character.
Momma, the 2nd part really doesn't make a word, but when added to the 3 letters makes a name. Did you see my sound hint?
ReplyDeleteoh thank you the last two letters.
ReplyDeleteI assume that we can only use letters that are represented on the door and that it is a 5 letter word
Oh Momma Cyndi!! How can I ever thank you enough!!!! I am now on 18, wheeee!
ReplyDeleteThe name is 3 and 4 letters (first and surname) and has nothing to do with the letters on the door.
ReplyDeleteMomma, don't look at the door until you have the 2 words associated with the name from the riddle. Itt even hummed a tune to help me.
ReplyDeleteDonas
ReplyDelete:) yes, my immediate thought was 'hocus cow !?!?"
trying to fiddle the letters into some form of shape now as I doubt that a large African cat with a mane is the answer I'm looking for as there is no L or I on the door
Lol Donas, we keep posting the same kind of things.
ReplyDeleteBtw. how are you doing on level 20?
Not sure RSA Momma Cyndi, but I think you are on the wrong track.
ReplyDeleteBJRed
ReplyDelete:) glad it helped. Only took me a couple dozen hours to work out
Lol, s-t, yes but I'm not sure we're helping. I primed my answers and tried to pick 8s and last, but still stuck.
ReplyDeleteOkay so I need a three letter and a four letter word which is a name. Those letters have nothing to do with what may be there or missing from the door letters.
ReplyDeleteThere is only one thing that can be a synonym for the name clue - so I'm pretty confident about that.
The second word has to do with the first ship and his assumed name?
I also looked high and tried to pick primes.
ReplyDeleteDonas,
ReplyDeleteFor level 20;
First hint is high (so you know where to look)
Second hint is primed (so you know what levels)
Third hint is pieces of eight (so you know how long the answer is)
Fourth hint is to the ends (so you know what letters to pick).
And in the end Granmaa.
No, momma, the ships don't matter. The last line says "the first 2" The first 2 of 26. Then twice, than back_ _ _ _ .
ReplyDeleteRSA Momma Cyndi,
ReplyDeleteForget about other levels or the story-line.
Just think alphabet for; the first two twice back.
Okay I now have a 5 letter word that makes a name that I recognise. Am I on the right track now?
ReplyDeleteFinally finished! Thank you, small-tool for the last word!
ReplyDeleteThe name is 3 and 4 letters (first and surname)
ReplyDeleteAh great. Congrats Donas :)
ReplyDeleteCreo, thank you for a very entertaining riddle. I will definitely go back to try the first two!
ReplyDeleteItt, thank you for your help and patience, couldn't have done it without you!
And congrats to you, small-tool. I'm glad you didn't quit!
ReplyDeleteOkay I think I know the name now (went back and read all the comments on it again and found a braincell along the way).
ReplyDeletedo we need 8 numbers ?
Yep you need 8 numbers.
ReplyDeleteyes, momma
ReplyDeleteLol, here we go again Donas.
ReplyDeleteShall we take turns?
The next one is for you :)
Momma Cyndi.....I also have the first 3-letter word and I think I have the second 4-letter word. Together they make a certain story book person (think "thieves") I THINK anyway. Could be very wrong in this.
ReplyDeleteThanks - that works out for the numeric values
ReplyDelete:) now for the moment of truth
Lol, s-t
ReplyDeleteBJRed, you are correct.
Tag your it, s-t!
got that too BJRed
ReplyDeletethe darn bell beeped at me though
Ooops, that should be "Tag you're it, s-t!"
ReplyDeleteRSA Momma Cyndi and BjRed,
ReplyDeleteThe name is only a hint to find the magic words.
Count how many times the letters are there in those words.
Lol, you're it Donas.
Thanks Small Tool :)
ReplyDeleteThat did the trick
sheesh, Small Tool and Donas, you two have the patience of saints.
ReplyDeleteThat was literally dragging me through the level
Back and got 18!!! Thanks for the hints guys and congrats for finishing!!!
ReplyDeleteGood grief!
ReplyDeleteGot 19 without even blinking twice. That came as a shock to the system!
I wish I could say the same Momma
ReplyDeleteal sal, remember when Holmes smiled? Do the same with the last word he says.
ReplyDeleteYou're it, s-t, lol.
Al Sal
ReplyDeleteDo you remember how we got past the box? We anagrammed the last thing Holmes did - same principal just its not what he does (its on the same place on the page though)
Of course Donas! Thanks! Last one now...
ReplyDeleteLOL
ReplyDeletenow I've joined the peanut gallery :)
I'll leave it to the professionals from now on
Lol, Momma, no professional here, just persistent!
ReplyDeleteO.K. So I found the last letters of the answers of lvls with prime numbers... Trying to anagram but...
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't get the url..
I'm back and still stuck on 17
ReplyDeleteI didn't understand momma cindy clue at all.
What am I doing wrong?
I'm getting seven letter words like "forager". I need two more letters!
Al Sal,
ReplyDeleteYou're on the right track, but don't use the answers from those levels.
Use the hint 'look high'
Ooops its the last letters of urls right?
ReplyDeleteMorgana
ReplyDeleteWhen you first went into the tin mine you needed a code to get through it. Use that word as your base then take two letters off of the door itself
Morgana, remember the password from level 8? Use it with two letters from the door.
ReplyDeleteAnd... TaDa!! Finished!!
ReplyDeleteThat was a very nice riddle. Thanks to the game-maker.
Thank you s-t, donas, momma and the rest for the hints and help.
Yupi!! Isn't it great to make it all the way through? :)
Congrats, al sal!
ReplyDeleteWell done Al Sal !!!
ReplyDeleteNearly there myself. Just scrambling letters around for the final bell
Momma, since it's a name and not a real word I had to check a few anagram solvers to get the right one
ReplyDeleteAh great Al Sal.
ReplyDeleteCongrats.
Yea, maybe doing it by the old scrabble method is taking me a bit long. Already had to go under the desk (twice) to get dropped tiles :)
ReplyDeleteThanks again Small Tool
ReplyDeleteAnd out to glorious violin music :)
Best of thanks to all of you who dragged me through my first ever one of these. I'm sure you realise that I really wouldn't have made it even half way without you
guess I'm the only one who doesn't get 19.
ReplyDeleteI know which line to look at, but I just can't see it! lol
katti, granmaa the last word Holmes says.
ReplyDeleteKatti
ReplyDeleteIts just one word at the very end of the page (well just before the actual question)
thanks, Donas. I was soo overthinking this
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Momma!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry @katti I didn't get it either at first sight... But my good friends around here opened my eyes...
ReplyDeleteRemember the level where Holmes smiled? Do exactly the same thing to the last word
Congrats Momma!!!
Congrats RSA Momma Cyndi :)
ReplyDeleteI am stuck on level 15...I haven't found anybody really asking about this level, so I must be really in a duh mode to not figure it out. Any hints?
ReplyDeleteLevel 15.
ReplyDeleteUse the first letter of every paragraph (no need to anagram).
TY s-t!
ReplyDeleteNope..not yet on 18 for me. So the door letters have nothing to do with the numbers I need? I'm just not getting it at all. S-T's hints were so positive, actually jubilant!! And I'm still going ..HUH??
ReplyDeleteI found the name...perfect!
I think I know what the phrase is...but it's too long!!!
Help!!
BJ
ReplyDeleteWhat was the two magic words that the name you got said to open the door?
Now put that into the door starting top left
The number of times each letter goes into each slot is the answer
stuck on 16, have re-read all the posts and I get nowhere
ReplyDeleteThanks @Donas and @Momma Cindy
ReplyDeleteI've finished it!
So happy!
ccc
ReplyDeleteI don't know how to give you a hint for this
Think ancestor and what your family is to you
maybe a bit of E=mc2 but shorter (and I don't mean the equation)
That did it!!!!! YeeeeHaawwww!!! You're the greatest Momma Cyndi!!!! Thank you, thank you!!!
ReplyDeletecccno4, what is on the front of the coin? Use the 2 names for the ships and pick letters according to the back of the coin, then granmaa
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Morgana!
ReplyDeleteWell done Morgana :)
ReplyDeleteBy the way, love your name and Peru :)
glad to help BJ :)
ReplyDeleteAfter having my sorry behind dragged along, I'm just glad we are on the same wavelength
Oh sorry CCC was looking at 15 there
ReplyDeleteDonas is right.
Use the dots and lines to cross out letters
Use the crossed out letters to get a 5 letter name.
geesh...I did what I thought was correct and was left with 5 letters, but it does not make a name it makes an amphibian?
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteYes it is a 5 letter word
ReplyDeleteThere are two ships one has a 6 letter name for the top and the other has an 8 letter name for the bottom
(think wild west)
ReplyDeleteYay, I finished the riddle! :-) Thanks everyone for the hints
ReplyDeletegot it! Geesh
ReplyDeleteCongrats Morgana Lima and Katti :)
ReplyDeleteWell done Katti
ReplyDeleteNot a small achievement :)
Congrats, katti!
ReplyDeleteLol, This is new, ain't it? To say congrats to everybody who finished.
ReplyDeleteBut I think it's a good development. It only shows what a great site EG24 is :)
Small Tool,
ReplyDeleteIn SA its called ubuntu. closest translation is "I am because you are". You and Donas were the generals in this battle but without the troops you wouldn't have had the title :)
oh the pronunciation is oo-boon-two
ReplyDeleteYes Sir!
ReplyDeleteDon't like the army connotation very much but... what can I do? I am just a humble soldier!!
LOL
ps I prefer the "ubuntu" (wiki translation: humanity towards others")
Hey Al Sal.
ReplyDeleteWhat can I say? The amaZulu are a bit military in their syntax. Blame uShaka.
"I am because you are" goes a lot deeper. I am alive only because you are here. I am warm because you are warm and I am safe because you are safe etc Its a bit like Bushido - a philosophy more than a word that can be translated.
Wish we still had more of it in SA and wish the world (outside of EG24 which has it in abundance) knew it existed
For Level 18: It is not linked directly to any previous riddles, but the solution fits into the story line. If your mother tongue is not English, some googling may help to get the first word
ReplyDeleteFor Level 20 one needs a really good anagram solver, one that shows at least three full solutions
I can't get 9
ReplyDeleteany help please
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteNo way I can get chapter 8
ReplyDeletehelp please chapter 8
ReplyDeletejuana......google hotels near the B. bridge + Lewis Carroll.
ReplyDeleteStuck on level 20. I got 8 letters and tried to anagram, got one word I know (means to hold), 2 I don't, but none of them work :(
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteIf you have the correct letters, this solver will give you the answer.
ReplyDeletehttp://anagram-solver.net
Check them twice, so thought so, but not getting the right answer so they must be wrong. The first 3 are sng. Is that right, or am I off about something?
ReplyDeleteThanks Donas. the anagram solver I was using didn't offer up the right answer.
ReplyDeletestuck chapter 10
ReplyDelete1-10/2
2-?
3-5-4
4=l
Am I right?
Thanks BJ Red I got it
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeletechapter 10 is done but I can't reach 11 does anybody can tell me how keep going?
ReplyDeleteJuana edit the url, get rid of negative.
ReplyDeleteFinished. Thanks everyone for the clues. Special thanks to Small-tool, Donas, RSA and Itt. Thanks Creo for this nice riddle.
