Small Challenge

SmallTool - Small Challenge is another challenging brain teaser riddle based puzzle game created by Small Tool and for EscapeGames24. It's 30 levels and starts (I hope) very easy and is slowly getting harder. There will be no fancy riddle stuff to do, I mean; no info with hidden text, or in the source, or in the exif and/or picture properties; No picture manipulation; No audio manipulation, etc, etc. Everything you need will be there in plain sight on the level. Only on 2 or 3 levels you have to Google a little bit. Good luck and have fun! [Created and Subbed by Small-Tool]

    ReplyDelete
  26. @jpg, I'd tried converting using phone, then back using alphabet, but got jibberish?

    ReplyDelete
  27. That is the right method. You shouldn't get gibberish doing that. You will get 7 letters that make 2 words.

    ReplyDelete
  28. okay I got 18 letters... need to be more selective!

    ReplyDelete
  29. 18 letters? what did you translate? Don't use the words on the phone screen, but the ones below the keypad.

Check out small-tool post at 8/3/12 2:49 PM

    ReplyDelete
  50. Stuck here on LEVEL 17
I see clues about number of words in both sentences and a key letter above but cannot figure what to do with that info
And I do not see what all the words in first sentence have in common

    ReplyDelete
  51. PurpleLogic. Note the different colour of a letter in the cartoon caption. That's the letter you need.
Where that letter appears in the top sentence, pick the corresponding letter from the bottom sentence.

    ReplyDelete
  52. thanks @Clio - I'm stuck on 17 too and will try that. btw, how are you feeling?

    ReplyDelete
  53. got it after finding all the hints

    ReplyDelete
  54. Feeling much better this evening, Annaby. Thank you for asking. x x. Im completely stuck on Lvl 21. I can make a 5 letter word...which isnt the answer...and ive not got a clue what to try next.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Hi clio, have you counted?

    ReplyDelete
  56. TY clio_rose
nto 18 now and I second annaby's reaction LOL

    ReplyDelete
  57. Hi Donas. To get the letters i got, yes i did. Do i need to count something else? I counted the lines...and used that letter..and then anagrammed, but that isnt the answer. Im trying to think of something that uses sound? Am i completely off-track?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Glad you're feeling better. Sounds like you counted the black lines, try counting the other lines. ;)

  60. I'm stuck on lvl 20. Can someone give me a hint please.

    ReplyDelete
  61. TY Ann, got 18 and now gonna call home I guess LOL

    ReplyDelete
  62. Hi @Cee Bee - I'm on 20 too - can't find any hints

    ReplyDelete
  63. Hi annaby, sounds right except look for last letters to make words with the rows of colors, not numbers

    ReplyDelete
  64. @Donas - thanks for the correction - that was an error due to being too hasty :)

    ReplyDelete
  65. For 20, look for a basic riddle hint, that we haven't used before. Maybe try the pics?

    ReplyDelete
  66. Level 18: corrected summary of the hints I found. Convert numbers to letters, write out colors and look at the last letters in each column for 2 words. Use Rumpkin autokey - pass phrase is the extra 3 letter word you found, message is the gibberish. Set to decrypt.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Thanks @Donas - will try that

    ReplyDelete
  68. LEVEL 20
I know what it isn't: Calling codes

    ReplyDelete
  69. Annaby....for 20, i converted the numbers to the roman...then translated the word red into German which told me what decoder thingy to use.

Donas...ive tried the vertical lines on the text, but still nothing. Subtle as a tractor hint please?

    ReplyDelete
  70. clio, try counting the white lines

    ReplyDelete
  71. @clio, thanks for 20 hint!

@Donas, I tried white lines but have 5 consonants?

    ReplyDelete
  72. TY Donas, clio - I never would have got that by myself.......finally on lvl21

    ReplyDelete
  73. clio - I know the cipher to use but am not getting an answer. You converted to roman numerals?

    ReplyDelete
  74. Clio, you missed some of the wide white lines

    ReplyDelete
  75. oh - never mind - I forgot the 2nd number was only for the cipher. (banging head on wall)

    ReplyDelete
  76. Wow, you're all doing great.
    Congrats on the progress :)

    ReplyDelete
  77. lol..that was Laura, not me, donas. .. but...do the white lines between count as 2 or 1? My eyeballs are getting confused...hahha

    ReplyDelete
  78. LEVEL 21
Counted white lines, got 5 letters and anagrammed them into a word that is not the answer. STUCK

    ReplyDelete
  79. Oh and thanks Small Tool for reminding me to get my eyes checked LOL

    ReplyDelete
  80. clio, which one would give what you need? (vowel)

    ReplyDelete
  81. you guys lost me on the hints for 20, could you point me in the right direction please

    ReplyDelete
  82. LEVEL 20
Arrow points to Rome..Convert numbers to roman numerals
Country is Germany in RED, Translate RED into German to find type of cipher to use
Use the roman numerals on that cipher for answer

    ReplyDelete
  83. rds665. Convert the numbers on the left to roman numerals. For the right, it is a pic of Germany, but coloured red. Translating red into German, gives the word ROT which is a deciphering thingy. Use http://www.purplehell.com/cgi-bin/riddles/rot.pl and then type in your roman numerals....read down till you find a word which makes sense.

    ReplyDelete
  84. rds665,
The left picture has two hints. It's called antico = Italian for ancient. And the arrow is pointing at Rome. So that's the hint to make the number Roman numerals.
The right picture is called farbe = German for colour. The colour is red. Red translated back to German is Rot. So that's the hint to use rot 9 on the Roman numerals.

    ReplyDelete
  85. @rds665... convert Italy no. to roman - use cipher indicated by colour of Germany to decode - answer is
    the 9th variation

    ReplyDelete
  86. OK now that we ALL helped rds665....Another hint for 21 and white lines and counting and anagrammed and answer is not sound???

    ReplyDelete
  87. LOL!! - You all type faster than me too!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Wow, wish i had known that on 20 small. It might have made it easier on myself, and saved a few of my brain-cells.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Level 21 is not an anagram.
The small white lines give you consonants and the wider white lines gives you the vowels (in fact all the same vowel).

    ReplyDelete
  90. TY Small Tool...back to counting AGAIN LOL

    ReplyDelete
  91. ty clio and purple logic, that is what i was doing but i dont see a word, am i missing something else? do i need to anagram one of them?

    ReplyDelete
  92. Thanks s-t - now on to 22!

    ReplyDelete
  93. 22 - not what I think? I'm thinking arghh!

    ReplyDelete
  94. TY s-t....... that did it!

    ReplyDelete
  95. @small-tool........I keep on ignoring your instruction NOT to overthink - derrrrr!

    ReplyDelete
  96. Thanks Captain Small. On to 22.

    ReplyDelete
  97. The main hint for the whole riddle is; Don't overthink!
And it's almost never an anagram.

    ReplyDelete
  98. LEVEL 20
    Roman Numerals = SPOILER
    Use SPOILER to get answer
    http://www.purplehell.com/cgi-bin/riddles/rot.pl

    ReplyDelete
  99. Wow over 500 comments now! Well done on the success small! An well done everyone else, i am here cheering you all on lol :)

    ReplyDelete
  100. In fact, I think the first level where you guys will encounter another anagram is on level 29.

    ReplyDelete
  101. The main hint for the whole riddle is: Don't forget! Its always a smalltool riddle. i.e prepare your brain cells to be tricked.

    ReplyDelete
  102. LEVEL 22
    AGAIN NOT WHAT YOU THINK
Heck I don't even know what to think on this one LOL
A nudge in the right direction please

    ReplyDelete
  103. PurpleLogic,

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  105. 22 what does it look like

    ReplyDelete
  108. congrats @laura - and you didn't cheat!

    ReplyDelete
  109. no but I'm tempted to on 23 (if I knew how!)

    ReplyDelete
  110. Where did you cheat from Annaby? What did i miss?

    ReplyDelete
  111. On 23 the text has the clues.
What's a code you can hear?

    ReplyDelete
  112. Yep Annaby,
    That's HEAR.
So make it so and then SEE.

    ReplyDelete
  113. or some other samuel I don't know about

    ReplyDelete
  114. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  115. @Purplelogic - I think you've got it

    ReplyDelete
  116. @PurpleLogic, exactly!

    ReplyDelete
  117. Indeed PurpleLogic.
And if you follow the shape it isn't an anagram.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Yeah!! I actually did 22 without much help & 23 on my own ..........can't believe it!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  119. Yeah @Cee Bee! I'm not seeing 23... any more hints?

  120. Purple logic. Favour please. Put that comment back in. I will need it tomorrow. Thanks in advance. hehe

    ReplyDelete
  121. I need another hint on 23 too

    ReplyDelete
  122. @laura - pen & paper required... draw it out

    ReplyDelete
  123. Of course now I haven't the foggiest where to begin on 24 - back to being dense lol

    ReplyDelete
  124. Cee Bee,
What is the title telling you?

    ReplyDelete
  125. @ clio_rose
    LEVEL 22
Add and subtract to existing letters by the amount you see.

    ReplyDelete
  126. @Cee Bee, do we need to translate letters to morse?

    ReplyDelete
  127. I must be blind as well as deaf on 23, can't see anything

    ReplyDelete
  128. @Donas... don't connect dots..... do the other one

    ReplyDelete
  129. @Clio - add to Purplelogic's hint - by the amount of the number the shape of the letters make

    ReplyDelete
  130. @s-t... I'm overthinking again!! I must stop doing that, on 25 now

    ReplyDelete
  131. Lol, I told you so Cee Bee.

    ReplyDelete
  132. well, 23 would have been a lot faster if I hadn't mixed up rows

    ReplyDelete
  133. still stuck on 23! drew out all morse... am I supposed to connect the dashes??

    ReplyDelete
  134. and of course I had to google what I wasn't supposed to in 24

    ReplyDelete
  135. @laura - connect the dashes - it will spell a word

    ReplyDelete
  136. @CeeBee - you blew through 24 - can you give me a little hint?

    ReplyDelete
  137. Thanks Cee Bee, finally on to 24

    ReplyDelete
  138. ah, thanks all, by column!

    ReplyDelete
  139. @annaby... I'll try:

convert each letter to morse ie O becomes ---
write each letter out in columns as in the clue
connect all the dashes and you shoud have a 7 letter word

    ReplyDelete
  140. @annaby: sorry that didn't post right:

    O becomes - - -

    ReplyDelete
  141. @Cee Bee - thanks, but 24 is where I'm stuck

    ReplyDelete
  142. @annaby... OMG!! I'm really losing it... LOL!!

As s-t said: What does the heading tell you

    ReplyDelete
  143. Annaby,
What is the title telling you?

    ReplyDelete
  144. You are looking for 4 letter word and don't overthink!

    ReplyDelete
  145. Still stuck on 23 and morse code..sadly my drawing skills suck. I either get zig zag zig zag or zag zig zag zig
I have tried with spaces and without...Am I looking at the lines i draw to be letters or the spaces they leave?

    ReplyDelete
  146. thanks for hints, on to 25!

    ReplyDelete
  147. The first column should look like this;

    ---
    -..
    ---
    ..-
    ---

    And that's your first letter.

    ReplyDelete
  148. do we need to know who these guys are??

    ReplyDelete
  149. Yep Laura,
You need to know who they are.
    Google images will help.

    ReplyDelete
  150. - - - = O do this for all column underneath each other

    ReplyDelete
  151. @Purple logic - make sure your morse code is clearly separated into columns, then draw straight lines thru the dashes (no zigs or zags) so you get a letter from each column

    ReplyDelete
  152. How do you google an image?

    ReplyDelete
  153. To Google an image you can drag it to your desktop
then drag it to the image search box on Google

    ReplyDelete
  154. Open Google Images. There click the little camera icon in the search bar and there you can upload a picture.
You better first download the pic to your pc. To make it into two pics with only one guy on it.
But if It's too hard I can give the names.

    ReplyDelete
  155. http://images.google.com/

save pic then click camera and upload the image to the link

    ReplyDelete
  156. I was trying to do that, but can't seem to separate the two guys

    ReplyDelete
  157. you can also have an add on to certain browsers which enable you to right click the image then google it

    ReplyDelete
  158. Use a snipping tool to isolate any image

    ReplyDelete
  159. I should know who they are anyway - jeez!!

    ReplyDelete
  160. google images will give you one guy

    ReplyDelete
  161. If anyone has a completed image for level 23 I would love to see it since I have now realized I am not even close to as smart as I thought I was. LOL I am Riddle Challenged today
