to be honest, I even don't get the story.
ReplyDeletewhy does Joy asks her friend where Randall is? I thought Joy & Randall are sitting on the same table while Grace is at that same time sitting in that same café "oberserving" both of them?! so, how does she know where Randall went to?
I wondered the same thing :)
ReplyDeleteLol Miller,
ReplyDeleteUse your imagination. Randall just left and those girls are just gossiping and stuff. Anyway don´t ask me, ask Clio she wrote the story.
But anyway, to solve this level, only focus on the Bold part of the text and a part of the picture.
@annaby i am not sure i have the TIME to be so BOLD with you on 12
ReplyDeleteit might be about emoticons?! on the other hand, that could involve google (at least for me). and s-t excluded that explicitly...
ReplyDeleteBigtank just gave a great hint.
ReplyDeleteAnd yep, NO GOOGLE for sure.
did you capitalized "Bold" on purpose?
ReplyDeletealready clutching at straws as you can see ;)
I've tried taking three out of the bold letters; that didn't work
ReplyDeleteYES!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Clio, Small-tool and Yoli for the game !!
Congrats guys !!
Hi new :)
ReplyDeleteAnnaby,
ReplyDeleteIs THREE all you say when you name the time?
oh ... :)
ReplyDeleteHi guys! Thanks S-T, Clio and Yoli for the game!! I'm trying to catch up. I'm stuck on lvl 10. I don't have paint or any other program like it - so I can't draw lines.... unless I print it and use a ruler! Do I need a program like that to solve it? (I have a mac)
ReplyDeleteHi annaby !!on which lvl are you ,cause i played from work but couldnt post so maybe i can help
ReplyDelete@miles1: which operating system are you using? mac, windows, linux?
ReplyDeletemac
ReplyDeleteuhm, sorry. should learn to read
ReplyDeletemiles, i used a ruler on the screen LOL
ReplyDeleteLol! Not a problem!
ReplyDeleteHi miles:)
ReplyDeleteand finally on to 13
@new - Really?! Lol... alright, I guess its time to get up and find myself a ruler! I must be one of those nerdy lame parents mentioned in the story!!
ReplyDeleteHi Annaby :)
ReplyDelete@new, the only thing I can come up with right now: save the image, go to http://pixlr.com/editor/ and open it there.
ReplyDeleteoops, sorry. I meant @miles1. sorry @new
ReplyDeletechapter 12: does it matter if it's am or pm?
ReplyDeleteMiller,
ReplyDeleteI just mailed you.
And nope AM or PM is not important just write it out and then go Kill.
Summary of how to solve the first 10 "easy" levels
ReplyDeleteLevel 1:
6th letter of November, etc. answer is 4 letters
Level 2:
Count each different shape, convert to letters, then use Granmaa (anagram)
Answer is 6 letters
Level 3: a rebus
chose the name of each object; put together it sounds like a pop-star
First one is "Brit"
Answer is 13 letters (no spaces, all lower case)
Level 4:
Anagram the capitalized letters in each line of the poem
(each one is a flower)
Look at the first letters in order?
Answer is 9 letters (also in the picture)
Level 5:
Move the chess pieces according to the notation
(columns are a-g left to right, rows are 1-8 bottom to top)
The final positions of the pieces spell a word
Answer is 3 letters
Level 6:
Solve each number equation and then convert to letters (position in alphabet)
Answer is 5 letters
Level 7:
Each of the special characters is a number on the US keyboard
write down the numbers and commas, then convert to letters
Answer is 5 letters
Level 8:
Look at the italicized word in the title and in the quote
(first letter of each word)
Answer is 11 letters
Level 9: (substitution cipher/cryptogram)
Note that the keyboard is not QWERTY
Create a cipher with the alphabet on one line, and the QWERTY letters on the other
ABCDEF...
QWERTY...
Follow instructions on the computer screen
Answer is 8 letters (2 words, no spaces)
Level 10:
First, use Granmaa on the letters on the left
Next, Copy the result to Paint or print
Then write the anagram (1 word, related) in the boxes on the right
Now draw lines between the dots for the corresonding letters
If you've done this right, you have crossed 12 letters or numbers
(T to T crosses the "u" in mouse, L to L crosses the number "1")
Convert the numbers to letters and anagram
Answer is 12 letters
(Sorry if I broke up a conversation, but I thought this would be helpful for people who do come later.)
ReplyDeleteThanks Miller! I have to go, but I'll give it a try later. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteDon´t be sorry at all PuzzledinCA,
ReplyDeleteGreat hints and now focus on the next levels.
miller , theres also a bold !!phrase that needs to killed and you have the hour written
ReplyDelete@Puzzled is here :)
ReplyDeletedo I have to "kill" all the letters which appear in the time of day or just once (3 "e" in bold text, but only 2 in time of day)?
ReplyDeleteMiller,
ReplyDeleteForget about day. Just focus on time and write it out in proper English and then go Kill.
I have to go again ... leave some hints for me
ReplyDeletecu tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteon 13 , the bottom row secind from left goes with the 2nd row ,1st from left
ReplyDeleteThanks new!
ReplyDeleteyou re welcome !
ReplyDeleteHi! Anyone still on?
ReplyDeleteI can't get level 10, I came up with sgoteapaduto which doesnt anagram to anything.
ReplyDeleteDouble check your letters - one of them is wrong
ReplyDeleteFor level 10, only one letter is wrong. Do the paint thing with narrowest straight line.
ReplyDeleteThanks Yoli, Clio, Small-tool for this nice riddle. Thanks all for the clues.
I think the one given by the line between the two R's
ReplyDeleteHi faltu, what level are you on? I've been staring at 13 for a while and trying to match pairs - I'm not even sure that the right approach.
ReplyDeleteHi Cee Bee, I'm on 13 too, also trying to match pairs.. but getting many possibilities there. I think this is the right approach.
ReplyDeleteI have six that I can't seem to match with anything. Some of the others are a bit of a stretch (some seem obvious) - how are you doing?

ReplyDeletehope to read you soon in games coms :)
I guess everyone finished this game and gone... I started it late as usual
ReplyDeleteDoris, we are playing this.. and have not gone very far. For the chess board you have to play the game, then read three letters at end.
ReplyDeletefaltu, thanks, I wasn't here, I quit before cause I started getting a headache. Can t you just give the answer? I can't risk another headache...
ReplyDeleteDoris you can mail me at faltu1@gmail.com
ReplyDeletei don't want to reveal the answer here, many players are still playing.
hmm road frost took doesn't have a number
ReplyDeletemtatt
ReplyDeleteL14:
well, it also has one (read the poem carefully)
on to 15
☺
& on to 16 - yay!
ReplyDeleteL15: think music...
On 16, the spelling mistakes taking me nowhere.
ReplyDeleteFaltu,
ReplyDeleteI guess you can call them spelling mistakes, but they are actually called differently (look at the rebus like picture).
Anyway, there are 6 of them.
hey everybody! continuing with lvl 13.
ReplyDeleteHello again everyone :)
ReplyDeleteHave to do a few things before I get started again on lvl 13
not many hints left for lvl 13. just found these comments:
ReplyDeletenew 2/15/13, 4:54 PM
Cee Bee 2/15/13, 10:28 PM
Cee Bee 2/15/13, 10:41 PM
and what's that below the olives exactly? raisins?
Match as many pairs as possible for level 13.
ReplyDeleteMiller,
ReplyDeletematching seeds
☻
huh? matching seeds?
ReplyDeleteI have 6 matches so far that I'm pretty sure of
ReplyDeleteThere will be some left overs.
ReplyDeleteYes!! For 13, when you're done, you'll have a shape from the unmatched pairs
ReplyDeleteFor 14, is the road part of a poem?
ReplyDeleteMiller - the road not taken (robert frost)
ReplyDelete14 - I have all the numbers, now to figure out what to do with them
ReplyDeleteyep, that's what I was asking ;)
ReplyDeletethanks
Do the math according to the text.
ReplyDeletehint for 14?
ReplyDeletelvl 14: I can't see any mathematical symbols out of the text, except "+" (add).
ReplyDeleteyes right way there is also 2 more
ReplyDeleteok, found another one (before "the postman")
ReplyDeletewhat function does "try" mean?
ReplyDelete@annaby: I think it doesn't mean anything; the word before Peter seems more fitting
ReplyDeletethanks Miller - didn't notice that!
ReplyDeletedoesn't mean anything word later in that sentence is more crucial
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeletehmm, my number must be wrong.
ReplyDeleteYou need 3 signs, + and other two.
ReplyDeletesame here Miller - and how to enter as we aren't using digits
ReplyDeleteAnnaby,
ReplyDeleteYou worked with digits in this riddle before.
What did you do then?
but the number I'm getting doesn't translate to anything
ReplyDeleteProbably wrong number then.
ReplyDeleteBut read the text very carefully, especially the first bold part.
And don't forget one of the numbers you get by Googling has a math operator in the text as well.
I think I'm missing one more symbol. only have 2
ReplyDeleteMiller - read the poem again.
ReplyDeleteBut even with S-T's hint, I still can't get a number that works
aaargh! I had it all right, but I didn't know the word, so I tried granmaa...
ReplyDeleteL14:
ReplyDelete8 numbers & 7 signs (1x 2x 4x of each kind)
well missing something on 18
ReplyDeleteLet it be noted that I'm playing with a handicap. My cat keeps sitting on my worksheet.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't see it, Mtatt, maybe you can try to feel it :P
ReplyDelete@premiere: what do you mean "(1x 2x 4x of each kind)", do you mean 4 '+' 2 'x' 1 '-' for instance?
ReplyDeletestill not getting an answer for 14 - how many letters in the answer?
ReplyDelete@annaby, just to make sure your numbers are correct: if you add all your numbers, the sum should be 502.
ReplyDeleteHi Cee Bee,
ReplyDeletethat's what is supposed to mean.
☻
(& again - I better don't give hints as they're more confusing than helpfull...)
4 letters
ReplyDeleteAnnaby,
ReplyDeleteThe answer for level 14 is a 4 letter word.
4 digits
ReplyDeleteHi everybody!! Level check???
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteTY Premiere - pls don't stop giving hints - you help a lot :)
ReplyDeleteOn 19 and stopping for now :)
ReplyDeletemiller 16 Faltu 19 Mtatt 18? Clio 1
ReplyDelete19 for me
ReplyDeleteI mean, 15 was surprisingly easy
ReplyDeleteFrom all the hints for lvl 14, I see I'm missing a sign and have got one number wrong - I keep coming up with a 3 digit answer, so I'm truly way off base, maybe I should have stayed in bed - LOL!!
ReplyDeleteannaby, are you making progess on 14?
ReplyDeleteI'm at level 16
ReplyDelete@Cee Bee: if you sum your numbers up, you should get 502 (that's of course not the solution, just to check if your numbers are correct)
ReplyDeleteCee Bee,
ReplyDeleteIf you keep coming up with 3 numbers as answer you probably didn't pay atttention to the first bold part of the text that Willy guy is saying.
Thanks all - finally on 15!
ReplyDeleteI can get them to sum to 502 (I think I changed the right one, I had 503 before), but I can still only two different signs (:....... I keep looking at the bold words in caps, do they have any significance other than the obvious for ADD?
ReplyDeleteNote to all. Yoli is telling a fib. Clio at level 0, and still reading intro. She waits till ALL cheating hints are given...THEN plays...and stuns EVERYONE with her brilliance and speed.
ReplyDeleteceebee...there is a subtraction and a couple of multiplications. :)
ReplyDeleteCee Bee, read the poem very carefull. especially the part with the number. there is also a sign!
ReplyDeleteS-T,
ReplyDeleteI had 4 digits at one point, the saw your post about the first part and changed my algorithm - then I only got 3 digits - I'm really missing something here, which is not unusual - LOL
Need bigger hint for 18 plz (loads of «not found» after finding fish)...
ReplyDelete@Miller: You mean the RF poem?
ReplyDeletehave to leave. please leave hints for lvl 16. probably about spelling mistakes...
ReplyDeleteCee Bee, yes. look at the wiki and check the the sentence that is quoted on top of article
ReplyDeleteLOL - I was staring at my words for level 15 and suddenly realized all I had to do was read them!
ReplyDeleteoh no Miller, yo're leaving? Come back soon!
ReplyDeleteprem , look as if you re not able to see
ReplyDeletebtw, how are you?
hi new
ReplyDeletethx, working on it... (& I'm ok)
☺
Phew!! Finally got lvl 14 - I need to go back to math school - thanks for all the help!
ReplyDeleteYAY!!! Cee Bee!!! The next ones are super easy!!
ReplyDeleteL18
ReplyDeletefeel the reversed (another alien hint for sure)
;-P
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteYoli,
ReplyDeleteWell I've managed 15 all by myself. I need some super easy ones LOL!! Thanks for restoring my self-esteem.
Great riddle so far and we aren't even close to half-way through, you guys are awesome!!

ReplyDeletelevel 16 - am I supposed to get a word from the pic?
ReplyDeleteAnnaby,
ReplyDeleteYou can get a word from the pic (it's some kind of rebus), but that word will only help you with finding things in the text. It's not the answer.
level 20
ReplyDeletesee what this is know what the the numbers are but don't know what it wants and how to determine it
Mtatt,
ReplyDeleteIf you look closely at the text, you'll see you only need two things. One to use on the other :)
Thanks Cee Bee!! I actually did it all myself (except for the writing) we just wanted small_tool to feel special!
ReplyDeleteL19
ReplyDelete(beware of my alien hints LOL)
more bip-beeps together...
Mtattie...count letters to pick letters! :D
ReplyDeleteI'm back for another 3 hours
ReplyDeletelvl 16: googling "gay phone" actually doesn't help :)
ReplyDeleteMiller,
ReplyDeleteother word for 'gay'
h...
wow, vocabulary keeps increasing. didn't even know that word in my own language ;)
ReplyDeleteback for a bit - level 16 - is that word suppposed to help me make something out of the 6 of them in the text?
ReplyDeleteIst letters give a word, but that's not the answer either :)
ReplyDeleteAnnaby,
ReplyDeleteOnce you have those 6 words it's the same trick as you did on level 8.
Cee Bee,
ReplyDeleteIt should work as answer.
It starts with F
Oh!! Yes my word starts with f ...........
ReplyDeletePOP! onto 17 now
ReplyDeleteOh no! I had the answer in the first 30 seconds and didn't realize it! And I wasted all that time on the pic!!!!
ReplyDeleteI got it! I made a stupid mistake of course - what else is new LOL!!
ReplyDeleteAwaiting you forcedly on 19...
ReplyDelete;-D
(seems I always need hints by sledgehammer method LOL)
21 it seems a lot of info but doesn't google well and what you think is relevant "code" isn't needed yet
ReplyDeleteat first I thought: 'aaaargh, dances! I'm screwed!' but it was not as hard as I expected
ReplyDeleteOops, I meant 20... (but stuck anyway LOL)
ReplyDeleteMtatt,
ReplyDeletefor 21 Compare the two (Italic) Oracle sentences.
Thought I'd give this another try, but stuck on lvl 12 -- smalltool gave what looked like a great method at 2/15/13, 4:02 PM , but it's not working for me.
ReplyDeleteHow many letters in the answer, please?
The answer for level 12 is 7 letters Puzzled :)
ReplyDeletelvl 18: I HATE you s-t! ;-)
ReplyDelete@Puzzled - 7 letters in level 12 answer
ReplyDeleteL20
ReplyDeleteuse from pic: 2nds on 1st
Miller!!! It is about time!! We hate him too! We begged him...please Tool don't put in that red herring...but noooooooooooooooooooooooooo...so he just whipped us and made us work harder!
ReplyDeletelevel 17 is supposed to be easy. Not, however, for me. I have some dances but no clue for the answer
ReplyDeletelol, Yoli!
ReplyDelete@annaby: granmaa the first letters
Thanks @Miller - have to find my missing dance!
ReplyDeletewhich are you missing on the picture?
ReplyDeleteIn fact level 17 isn't Granmaa if you go from left to right (and from top to bottom) :P
ReplyDeleteokay - on 18 now
ReplyDeleteThanks @smalltool and @annaby, but still not getting it -- have fun everyone! Bye
ReplyDeletefor lvl 18: new posted at 2/16/13, 8:03 AM:
ReplyDelete"look as if you re not able to see". but it's not braille, right?!
It is Miller,
ReplyDeleteBut it seems German braille is different.
I got all the letters in braille from wiki.
ReplyDeleteI can't keep up. Level 18 - found the red herring - how did you guys get from there to braille?
ReplyDeleteannaby,
ReplyDeletelook at the houses & morse placements...
(& my comment at 2/16/13, 8:41 AM)
☺
Thanks @Prem - I would never have seen that.
ReplyDeleteis that comment about lvl 19 or 18?
ReplyDeleteOn 22, got all of them and what the text on the picture is saying, but cannot connect.
ReplyDeleteoops, I meant 8:25 AM
ReplyDeleteFaltu,
ReplyDeleteIf you saw the trick on the picture then you know what to do. Very basic riddling :P
lvl 19: I thought first letter is "w", but seems like I'm on the wrong track
ReplyDeleteThanks st, got it.
ReplyDeleteMiller add - to M.
yes, s-t just told me I was using dots instead of dashes. concentration decreases...on 20 now
ReplyDeleteMay I have a little push on 11 please? Is this the right diagram/names to be used to solve the right chart:
ReplyDeletehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Teeth_diagram.png
For the left chart I just picked from the guy's name.
For the right chart I picked 1 letter from each name of the tooth. I tried both "premolar" and "bicuspid". My granmaa's answers didn't work.
@Ruff: no numbers required on the right side
ReplyDeleteHi Ruff :)
ReplyDeleteLike Miller said.
And yep you have the right chart.
I have no idea about lvl 20. I only read premiere's post "use from pic: 2nds on 1st".
ReplyDeleteand the durations seem to be wrong.
I hate zodiac riddles!!
ReplyDeleteMiller,
ReplyDeletemore posts for L20:
s-t 2/16/13, 8:41 AM
Yoli 2/16/13, 8:53 AM
messing up basic riddling for L22...
:-/
granmaa involved in lvl 20?
ReplyDeleteYep that same old Granny is used again :)
ReplyDeletethanks! on 21 now.
ReplyDeletehow are you doing annaby?
Getting close to 400 comments so next comments will be on a new page
ReplyDeleteHi Miller - still on 20 - having problems staying focused and my cat is back on my desk ...
ReplyDeleteforget about the zodiacs. they are just red herrings. concentrate on bold parts in text
ReplyDeletePOP - just got 20 while my cat was gone :)
ReplyDeleteAnnaby!! You and cat are gonna finish this one first!!
ReplyDeleteno chance @Yoli - I'm reaching riddle saturation :)
