A Love Story

A Love Story is another riddle based puzzle game created by the CSY team (Clio, small-tool and Yoli) for EG24. A 50 chapter love story which starts quite easily, but will blow your mind by the end :P No fancy riddle stuff; no info in hidden text, source, the exif and/or picture properties. No picture or audio manipulation, etc. Everything you need is there in plain sight on the level. All you need is your brain, perhaps some googling and a lot of help from other players. But please DO NOT POST ANSWERS. Do post lots of subtle, helpful hints though, because we want your fellow players to reach the end as well. Leave no-one behind, so everyone can see how this wicked love story unfolds :) Good luck and have a lot of fun! [Created and subbed by Clio, small-tool and Yoli]

    ReplyDelete
  3. Yes Annaby I believe it was Compare the two Oracle sentences.

    ReplyDelete
  4. for 21, I tried to granmaa the first letters that differ from both quotes. tried to strike the letters that appear twice. going in circles...

    ReplyDelete
  5. Miller,
Same amount of words in every sentence, but in the second sentence there's always one letter less.
    Does that help?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Lvl 20: Am I supposed to be using the 2 words in bold, to select the 6 letters.

    ReplyDelete
  7. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Miller - strike all matching letters - you should have 7 letters left

    ReplyDelete
  9. Cee Bee there was a previous hint comment - count letters to pick letters. So count letters in some words to pick letters from other words.

    ReplyDelete
  10. thanks annaby! did that before, but must have done something wrong

    ReplyDelete
  11. LEROY!!!!!! About time you said something!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  12. LOL I been talking elsewhere
BTW is breakfast important in Lvl 22

    ReplyDelete
  13. Breakfast is not important.

    ReplyDelete
  14. 22: also have the four guys. trying to figure out what "trick" s-t was talking about at 2/16/13, 10:59 AM

    ReplyDelete
  15. Miller...the answer is........eight

    ReplyDelete
  16. I have 2 words from the text on lvl 22 that seem to ask for a date. so I don't get what to anagram

    ReplyDelete
  17. Not getting very far with 22 - I know who the guys are and see some grammatical errors in the text, but can't make any words.

    ReplyDelete
  18. CeeBee,
Take A Good Look At The Text In The Pic :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. I think I need more vowels - only have one (maybe 2).

    ReplyDelete
  20. at least in the hint, sorry

    ReplyDelete
  21. finally solved 22. despite my lag of concentration (counted wrong), that was a brainteaser.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Well done Miller!! I haven't progressed any further, so I think I'll leave this problem for another day - or another hour or so - LOL!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Come on CeeBee, you can do it.
Just use the hint from the text pic. Google a bit and then a basic riddle conversion thing and then Granny :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. CeeBee: Each blurb about each man is has TWO sentences. Initially I could not find any similarities. But after a Second look I got it with help of Wiki

    ReplyDelete
  25. thank you for the hints on 22 ,its where i stopped last night ,so i have smt to work on!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. are the names of the persons imporatnt on 22 ?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Totally stuck on Level 24. Have counted by different attributes, sorted pics, tried to connect them to make pictures or letters, tried to 'look up' with Google or connecting them to the URL in some way. Not seeing the way forward. Advice, please?
    Spice1

    ReplyDelete
  28. For 22 The names are not needed. It is just the sentences on the image. Each man has two sentences written about them. Start with each

    ReplyDelete
  29. For 24: Count TWICE. Lots of Shapes and Colors there
    No drawing needed.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Spice1,
    You're on the right track.
Just count and do it very carefully.
Combinations are not important (kind of a red herring). Count what you can count and ask Granny she knows best.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Thanks PL , i ll think about it , my brain doesnt seem working LOL

    ReplyDelete
  32. @PL Barfield and small-tool Thank you! I had counted the necessary ways, just not thought to put them together :D

    ReplyDelete
  33. Good grief! Stuck again so soon on Level 25. The title and picture text seem to imply something, but I'm unable to apply that "rule" to the italics text with any degree of success. Then there is the mention of the particular section of the library. I had some success connecting some of the nouns to that, but not all (and nothing with the adjectives). I even tried some 'sounds like' things. I'm befuddled......

    ReplyDelete
  34. So who is the spice here? LOL

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yep I been thinking that level for a while

    ReplyDelete
  36. No hints for L23 here & all my ideas = blind alleys (yet)...
    (as usual LOL)

    ReplyDelete
  37. "Read between the lines" Prem :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Thx, finally got it!

    L23:
«First things first» (a wise old man once said)
    ;-P

    ReplyDelete
  39. For level 25
Don't make it more difficult as it is. Don't overthink. The title and the text on the picture: it's all showing you the same hint, the same method. Just do it.

    ReplyDelete
  40. For 26, notice grids within the grid.

    ReplyDelete
  41. For 29 following the instructions getting me nowhere, granma is not helping, is the text below the picture important?

    ReplyDelete
  42. For level 29,
The whole riddle is in the pic and Granny is not used.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I need a hint for 27 please

    ReplyDelete
  44. For level 27
Use that anagram solver in the picture.

    ReplyDelete
  45. For 27 use granny for every word.

    ReplyDelete
  46. but not every word has an anagram and some words have a list of garbage

    ReplyDelete
  47. lvl 23:
beside "read between the lines" & "first things first", is the sequence
    3-3
    3-3
    3-3
    2-2
    important?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Miller,
    Not really important.
The sequence has to be that way to make the riddle work, but it isn't a method to solve it.
But since you posted that, it is the amount of letters the answer is.

    ReplyDelete
  49. annaby,
use the garbage (once it's more, once it's less)...
    ;-D

    ReplyDelete
  50. The results are very important but not for reading :P

    ReplyDelete
  51. lvl 27 - see Faltu's comment at 5:31 and Premiere's at 5:28

    ReplyDelete
  52. For level 28,
Read that title on the picture a little bit differently.

    ReplyDelete
  53. is level 25 a 6 letter word?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Why would level 25 be a 6 letter word answer?
    Anyway it's 10 letters.

    ReplyDelete
  55. ok, wrong attempt then ;) thanks

    ReplyDelete
  56. L28
    awaiting a divine afflatus...

    ReplyDelete
  57. Hi Prem, for 28...focus on the down and across and make sure you read the title differently. Perhaps, you may want to read a space where none exists?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Well I know what to do on 25(I think), but not getting what to do it to...

    ReplyDelete
  59. 25: do I have to change the given "Mambo Jambo" (20 & 2) as well?

    ReplyDelete
  60. deecee,
    Elastic becomes Plastic
And that's because the P is the 'only' letter you can place in front of lastic to make a real English word.
Same goes for all the others.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Yes, I understood that...still looking for what to change.

    ReplyDelete
  62. deecee,
the 10 Italic words in the text.

    ReplyDelete
  63. For level 28, it would seem that down and across tells you to put the alphabet in two different ways.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Thank you ever so much. Fianlly got it

    ReplyDelete
  65. is 26 about finding other words within the smaller grids?

    ReplyDelete
  66. HI Miller - yes, except just letters

    ReplyDelete
  67. It's about finidng 9 letters Miller.
    Every box 1 letter.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I still don't get Level 9, is anyone around to help with early levels? I've tried translating the two words onto my actual keyboard but no luck.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Hi Me2. Take a good look at the keyboard in the pic. Compare it to the one you are typing on.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Me2,
Be sure to translate the correct words.
You don't translate: Fatal Error, but two other words in the text.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Stuck on 27...used granma on words...but not sure what is meant by the 'garbage' or the 'once it's more, once it's less'. Help, Please?

    ReplyDelete
  72. I've been transposing line link to my actual keyboard but no luck. Been stuck since last night. Funny how one can sail through some levels but can't figure out one that others find easy. Another hint would be greatly appreciated.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Me2,
Maybe you have a different keyboard.
This level is based on a US keyboard.
But maybe you're doing it the other way around, so: The first letter is S
L on pic is in real life S.
Same method with the other letters.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Small-tool, that's exactly what I've been doing and I do have a US keyboard. I'm not sure if it's okay to type on here what I'm getting but I've got two words (the first of which is actually a word and the second isn't) both of which start as you say with S and end in T and A respectively. I've tried entering them together, separately, tried anagramming them, nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  75. so no comments for 19 really , i see something from miller but not helping much

    ReplyDelete
  76. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Bigtank,
The dots and dashes on the pic should ring a bell.
I bet you tried it before on the previous level :P

    ReplyDelete
  78. Small-tool, aaaaarrgggh, I was using I not O. Hangs head in shame.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Lol, don't worry Me2, it happens to all of us :)

    ReplyDelete
  80. LVL 30: hmmm, I have the two words. is that a demand (and if so, what's next)?

    ReplyDelete
  81. For level 30.
After doing your first thing, then do what you have found with all of them together to find your first hit.

    ReplyDelete
  82. thanks. kind of scared now at 31...

    ReplyDelete
  83. thx s-t & clio for L28 hints!

    L29
Seems I found the numerical knowledge stuff, but still not getting further re bottom pic hint...

    ReplyDelete
  84. @premiere: when you count, you should get odd numbers, correct?

    ReplyDelete
  85. Hint for level 29 would be:

    Do you remember level 23?
    It's abit the same.

    ReplyDelete
  86. re level 28 i have done as the text suggested. am i using the picture title to pick letters

    ReplyDelete
  87. Bigtank,
Pic title tells you what's not in the grid.
After that just use the hearts to pick letters.

    ReplyDelete
  88. ah thanks small tool reworked it now

    ReplyDelete
  89. at level 30 now , do i need to learn a new language

    ReplyDelete
  90. Nope, no new language on level 30.
Just your own language :P, just find the words the definitions are about and go on from there.

    ReplyDelete
  91. How many comments do you want S-T? LOL

    ReplyDelete
  92. just a comment not for hinting
Clio you rock !!!Guys you made a great game !!
i have so much fun with the texts and so much laughing !!! that deserves all the struggling for solving the lvls ,that are brilliant btw

    ReplyDelete
  93. for 29 please , i think the numbers i ve found its not a coincidence but have counted using them in every possible way and still nothing

    ReplyDelete
  94. 29: No numbers needed. Remember how to read between lines? Well do it again, write down ALL between lines, Now this is central, choose only ONE letter

    ReplyDelete
  95. For level 29
The main hint is think back about level 23.
It's a bit the same method.
Forget about numbers, think alphabet and what you did on level 23.

    ReplyDelete
  96. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  97. thank you both , i d found the numbers but thought i had to count

    ReplyDelete
  98. Sorry about the deleted post. Your hints came in while I was posting. Solved now, thank you :)

    ReplyDelete
  99. For 30, I have the two words (although one of them could be two different words). I did what they said to do and looked at the 'first hits' for both alternatives. Nothing stood out as an answer though - I'm missing something?

    ReplyDelete
  100. On 30: Add the second or shorter word to the list and then take the ENTIRE new list to the first word

The Second word is sort of related to the first word

    ReplyDelete
  101. @PL that did the trick. I was misunderstanding a key part of what needed doing. Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  102. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I'm so far behind...on 18 I've seen the fish, the reversed Braille (the BM) and the granmaa-ed title but I don't have the answer. Any gentle nudges available?

    ReplyDelete
  104. Never mind, I tried everything but the obvious answer.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Just checking back in -- already Sunday night and 50 levels and still people are barely to 30! A masterful riddle. Amazing!
Keep up the good work, those of you still working!

    ReplyDelete
  106. Hi, I'm so stuck on level 12. I read the hints and I know I have to "kill" ~~and after being stuck for this long, who wouldn't want to? :)
But am I right on thinking I have to erase letters (if so, I can't figure out which ones)
and do I also need granmaa here?

    ReplyDelete
  107. Truus,
    What time is it?
    Write it out.
And then kill it (yep, erase)

    ReplyDelete
  108. I got all that small-tool. But I just can't seem to figure, what exactly I have to erase, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Truus,
Erase the time from the first bold sentence.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Oh my, I really spent hours on this level, but when you put it like that, it's not that difficult, is it? :)

    Thanks small!

    ReplyDelete
  111. lvl 31 - I've mapped the floors, I know I start at the stairs at A. The first clue is 3C. Do I take c as 3 and move 3 blocks in some direction? Or Do I use 3 + C?
    HELP!!!

    ReplyDelete
  112. You need to convert C and other letters with the help of your code.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Annaby,
Don't forget this part of the text:

while standing in front of the door.

So not in A yet !!!

And for 3C etc. You can't use it 'yet' The letters are not correct yet.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Dear friends...apparently small_tool desperately needed a break so he has crashed the website hosting our riddle. Unfortunately this happens occasionally! We will try to get a message up here when the site is back. btw apparently it still works in some areas.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Hi everyone. Don't worry. We are subject to the whim of Webs. Unfortunately, it is down at the moment. Keep trying. I'm sure it will be back soon. Whatever you do, don't give up. Thank you all for your patience. Small-tool, Yoli and I x x

    ReplyDelete
  116. and....yoli types faster than me.

    ReplyDelete
  117. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Mtatt,
    Just look at the grid.
The whole riddle is in the grid.
Pick letters in a logical way.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Is anyone back here with me? Level 20 - what am I to remove from what? I've pored over the hints to no avail, I've slept on it, I've got nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Me2, notice the two letters in the bold in text, only those two are important in the table. Use one of them to pick letters from the other.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Hi Me2, Look at the last part of the text to see what to use from the pic.

    ReplyDelete
  122. level 20 not removing use month and sign use one on the other to pick letters

    ReplyDelete
  123. am i missing a code on 31 to convert my letters to correct ones

    ReplyDelete
  124. Mtatt,
Nope if you have the code you have the method to make it correct :)

    ReplyDelete
  125. WEBS.COM reports it is under a denial of service attack and has been for more than 6 hours. They do not have any estimated time of restoration.
you can follow them on twitter https://twitter.com/webs

  126. Damn and blast, I just saw this and my riddling heart jumped for joy, but I see that it's down!

Hopefully it'll be back up soon and I can enjoy riddling with my EG24 friends. I'll keep refreshing and cross my fingers.

50 levels! Hmmm, should keep us going for a while lol

    ReplyDelete
  127. Ha, even though it's down, the tab (on Chrome) gives me an easy anagram lol.

Will we be collecting names through the riddle?

    ReplyDelete
  128. Lol, well found Rambler, but no.
That's just a little build in joke / red herring.
Later you will see another one if you collect the first letter of every level title.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Hi s-t, long time!

Hopefully this 'attack' will soon be over and I can play - luckily for me there are lot's of helpful hints so I'll see if I can catch up...

    ReplyDelete
  130. Hi Rambler :)

Yep of course we're hoping that FreeWebs will be working soon again, too.
Btw. (of course not working either now) but there's a little prequel riddle posted before this one.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Thanks, I didn't see that one, I'll use it as a kind of 'warm up'.

Anyway, as you say, the hosting site is kaput atm so there's not a lot I can do. I'll check back later...

    ReplyDelete
  132. Yay!! Webs is working again!

    ReplyDelete
  133. Well after an enforced break I'm back again and stuck on 23. Are the lines I'm reading between diagonal?

    ReplyDelete
  134. It's not working for me - it's still not loading.

    ReplyDelete
  135. webs started working for a short time and then stopped working again. Looks like we will have to wait again.

    ReplyDelete
  136. you can use this link to see if the entire site is down or if you need to clear your cache: http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/webs.com.html

    ReplyDelete
  137. Looks like we are back in business! Have fun and keep your fingers crossed! Maybe your eyes too!

    ReplyDelete
  138. Yoli, can I get a nudge on 23?

    ReplyDelete
  139. Me2....Focus on: Read between the lines.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Are the lines I'm reading between diagonal? Or in the title?

    ReplyDelete
  141. Me2 Between an A and a C would be a B

    ReplyDelete
  142. Still have nothing on level 23.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Me2, level 23 has 11 letter answer.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Five hours later, I finally got it (not exactly a POP).

    ReplyDelete
  145. I took over an hour to do lvl 4, so i dont hold out much hope for me finishing this riddle before i get packed off to an old-folks home! Why I aided and abetted small-tool and yoli should be subject to investigation by a mental-health expert.

    ReplyDelete
  146. could use a solid hint on 31 have all my info see 5x5 grid of info but nothing springs to mind

    ReplyDelete
  147. Mtatt,
Use the numbers to change the letters and then walk the house.

    ReplyDelete
  148. I'm stuck on 17..the one with the dances..i thought i had all the dance names but something seems to wrong..

    ReplyDelete
  149. Sonal,
    First letters of those dances.
And it isn't an anagram if you do left, top middle, middle middle, bottom middle, right one

    ReplyDelete
  150. Its not working..i guess i have the wrong dance names...:(

    ReplyDelete
  151. The top middle one, you should be able to guess (how low can you go) going under a stick that gets lower and lower. The middle one, just look on what surface they are dancing.
And the other 3 (if too hard with Google images to find the steps), there are cryptic hints about them in the bottom of the text.

    ReplyDelete
  152. ya..i got **mb* and *** dance other three i thought were **ng* *al*z and *um** but thats not working...

    ReplyDelete
  153. .ox....
    ..mbo
    .c.dancing
    .umba
    ..ngo

    ReplyDelete
  154. thanks a lot :) i thought it was waltz...

    ReplyDelete
  155. In the text: that one which reminds me of horses and hounds.
Lol, I don't see them hunting at that brown red animal by waltzing.
    But, you're welcome.
Have fun with the next levels.

    ReplyDelete
  156. level 35 is this even music doesn't look it to me

    ReplyDelete
  157. nvm I see a pattern but don't get it yet

    ReplyDelete
  158. lvl 30: how many letters please

    ReplyDelete
  159. six and four to start with

    ReplyDelete
  160. The answer to level 30 is a short word.
Anyway, find the words the definitions are about.
Look at their first letters and then do what those letters tell you to do.

    ReplyDelete
  161. stuck on level 18, decoded the m**** and found a phrase but its not working, what am I missing here

    ReplyDelete
  162. ger,
The last part of the text is:
She limped over to the window and stared out, wondering what it was that she could not see.

And the last two words there are a kind of hint.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Indeed Ger,
If you can not see, you should feel your way through :)

    ReplyDelete
  164. thanks s-t will get working on it now

    ReplyDelete
  165. Im so frustrated by lvl 10. I dont know what to do at all. So far, I have 5, Ag, water and 3. The equation thingy in the top right is just scary. Im thinking of cheating off myself, and i wouldnt like to do that. (i feel bad that i cheated off myself for lvl 5...i swear i could NOT find a chess board that had a square called kg6, and then i accidentally remembered the answer so i cheated me).

    ReplyDelete
  166. Clio don't think about those math and chemistry thingy, use granma, saw the title? After that you have to use paint.. remember narrow lines.

Lol i am giving hints the riddle-maker :)

    ReplyDelete
  167. @mtatt: Thanks, I had the first two words, and thought I was doing as told, but still missing something.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Sorry S-T, didn't mean to ignore you, thanks for the extra nudge.

    ReplyDelete
  169. Thanks faltu, but ISAON, doesnt give me anything that i recognise.

    ReplyDelete
  170. CeeBee,
    I posted this before:
    "For level 30.
After doing your first thing, then do what you have found with all of them together to find your first hit."
So use all your found words to find a first hit.

    Clio,
You have to draw more lines the answer is 12 letters.

  171. Whaaaatt? I cant even get a graanma from the title, so dont even ask me about drawing lines please.

  172. Lol, Granny is looking at the left side of the pic :P

  173. hang on....you mean the words on the left hand side...anagrammed...and then..put that anagrammed word into the other boxes...and then use a line to connect the same letter? Like....draw a line from the T on the left, to the T on the right?...ARGGGGH. Now Millers comment makes sense...i had NO idea where he got that word from. Dont tell me, let me try it first.

  174. S-T,
I saw the previous post and was trying to follow directions. I've seen the other comments too, but I'm still doing something wrong as it's not making sense yet. When the penny finally drops, I'll use the 2x4 that I keep by my side - I've been using it a lot over the past few of days :)

  176. Ive remembered the answer...but am determined to do this. How do i know which s, goes with which s. Or which O goes with which O?

    ReplyDelete
  177. 1st left S with 1st right S.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Clio,
First S with first S and first O with first O

  179. Thanks Faltu - I thought I'd done exactly that a while ago. I saw the first hit and thought aah - got it!, but it wasn't the answer (:

  180. Oh, then I tried to follow what another hint said, but that didn't work either - as I said, I'm totally misunderstanding something, or doing something wrong - maybe one or more of my original words are wrong.

  181. It should be the first hit

    ReplyDelete
  182. CeeBee all those words together should give you a lot of search results, but your first in the list should be a wiki one. And that subject/thing is the answer.

    ReplyDelete
  183. use all 10 words and do what you found off granny Cee Bee

    ReplyDelete
  184. hmmmm............. my first hit isn't a wiki one, my words have to be wrong!

  186. first letters of your 10 words should give 2 search sites

  187. Cee Bee,
All definitions are taken literally (exactly the same description) from this site:

    http://www.thefreedictionary.com/

  188. I hate this. I cant get all the letters to intersect with things in the blackboard writing. One goes through a number....and others through blank spaces. What am i doing wrong? For first letter im matching...T = S and getting S. But, say for A = L im getting the number one? I know im wrong, but..what is it im doing wrong?

    ReplyDelete
  189. You are not wrong.. try to make your lines narrowest in paint, you will get some numbers.
