  20. Rats are great little creatures, and make nicer pets than hamsters.
My last one had the run of the house because he was just like a tiny dog!
Shame they don't live very long =(

Thank you, Minoto, That was fun!

One word - For anyone confused by the title, this game is based on the Pied Piper of Hamelin.
A pier is a straight [usually wooden] construction like a part bridge, that reaches out over a body of water; usually the sea, at coastal resorts.
Not sure what americans call them, but probably "dock".
In case anyone doesn't know, the Piper in the original middle ages fairy story uses a flute[pipe] to magically attract rats from the beseiged town of Hamelin, never to be seen again.
When the townsfolk renege on the deal of paying him, he uses his pipe to attract the town's children to the same fate.
To my knowledge, Hamelin has no pier =)

  21. @Rookwings, I tend to think of dock as a wooden structure where boats tie up and pier as a wooden (or sometimes cement) structure that people fish from.

Both seem to be used interchangeably in the US so I am not positive if my meanings are correct.

  22. I think of dock to be used in lakes and rivers, and piers are found at oceans and bays... In essence; interchangeable! lol This discussion also brings to mind the old saying...
"take a long walk off a short pier" ...lol

At least we get to have fun with typos in the title as they have made the game wayyy too polished!!!

    @alkmar....Love the singing-through!!!!Bravo!!!!!

  24. @ kitkatfox:
If you'd like to see a pier as we have them in england, look up in wikipedia: Blackpool North Pier ;)
And Hamelin STILL hasn't got one, hehe!

    ReplyDelete
  25. eee! thanks, rookwings. I can always count on you to help with my international education. That pier is HUGE (and funnily enough looks like it is on dry land in the wiki pic). :P

And for fair play, here's the latest pier I have been on: www.jennettespier.net/ in the Outer Banks barrier island in North Carolina.

    ReplyDelete
  26. @ kitkatfox:
Wow! your pier is nice and quiet!!
Ours are full of penny arcades, ice cream stands, "greasy-spoon" cafes and often with a theatre at the end, where burned-out once-popular comedians perform to an audience of sunburnt, sweaty holidaymakers wielding buckets and spades, who are determined to enjoy themselves and will laugh at just about anything [hence the popularity of the eternally awful "saucy seaside postcard"!
My, that was quite a bad review I did there. Oh well - somebody likes them!
    ;)
    And also to kitkatfox:
We are swapping piers; does that mean our friendship is at a special stage? [hahaha]
You teach me american subtleties, and I teach you english ones, eh ;)
